This weekend:
Saturday: two sheets of 5x5 Baltic birch plywood at an angle (had to remove the folding tonneau cover) but forgot to take a photo
Sunday: one sheet of 4x8 of cheap plywood and two 8-foot 2x4’s

both times it took me 15-30m in 20-degree weather to find the best way to lash it down — I think I need ratchet straps that have more adjustability, or to revisit my boyscout knot-tying lessons and use regular rope

in this photo, hook end in the anchor by the tailgate, up through the D-ring at the front of the bed then diagonally across to the opposite side of the tailgate was the best fit for the straps

For VERY LIGHT loads, just use the hooks on the tailgate.

Get yourself some soft-tyes, these extend the length of your straps, and you can leave them attached to your D-rings and tie down hooks so you don't have to reach under the 4x sheet.

It would be so helpful if you could post a list and links for the ratcheting straps, D-Rings, etc, that you have found work best to haul lumber, plywood and MDF on the Maverick. Posting photos of the setup would be fabulous. Thanks so much.

Thanks for sharing these things. I'm impressed with the features but unimpressed that there's very little info showing off these functions that's easily found.

Here is some very specific information on making the lumber supports that are level with the angled tail gate and the wheel wheels;

Near tailgate = 6-5/16” x 54-½” sitting on ½” Tractor Supply mat, ½” 45 degree notches in bottom corners, two hand holds at 16” on center with center line 2” from edge and overall 1-¼” x 3” with ½” roundover
Near cab = 38 degree bevel on ends, 7-¼” x 48-½” long point to long point

So which came first: the dimensions of plywood? Or the dimensions of truck beds?

Did lumber companies make plywood that would fit into truck beds? Or did truck companies make beds that would carry plywood?

And what about "orange"?
Which came first? The color or the fruit?

It has been scientifically proven the egg came before the chicken.

I have an old magazine with an article on the launch of the original Ranger. The article stated that Ford management told the designers that the little truck needed to carry 4x8 sheet goods to be considered by customers "a real truck". The Ranger relied on 2by's in pockets to raise the 4x8's above the wheel wells. Similar to the Maverick.

Plywood standardized at 48x96" to fit both 16" and 24" O.C. framing
16" framing dates back to colonial building practices from England. Plywood became commercially available in 1928.

https://www.usply.net/news/the-origins-of-wholesale-plywood/
Interestingly the 1925 model T truck bed was 40 3/4" wide.

The wider bed didn't arrive until the F1 in 1948

No idea about the oranges.
