Today makes 2 weeks since I picked up my Maverick and have about 1,000 miles on it now. It still exceeds my expectations, and I love spending time in it... but about half the time I put it in 'drive' and pull away, I forget to hit that pesky button with the 'circle A' on it, and when I do forget and I come to the first stop, and the lovely 2.0 Ecoboost engine shuts off, I first exclaim (out loud) "I HATE THAT!" and then I hit the pesky button to shut off auto start/stop.

Ford Maverick Hate auto start stop I Hate That

I sure hope we figure out a way to turn it off permanently, without having to buy the $100 thingy. Please Ford, give us a way to shut this frustration off for good.

Why do you “hate that” in capital letters no less ?

I’ve never had this feature in a vehicle and don’t understand yet why I should hate it with such passion.

I hate it in my wife’s car with a passion…. I don’t even notice it in the mav, then again I’m not even sure mine has been shutting off because the battery is taxed from all the non-running stereo Shit I’ve been doing without giving it enough drive time to charge

Spend the $$, you’ll never miss it but will be rewarded with a much more pleasant driving experience as long as you own your truck.

That was the first mod on my new Raptor, never looked back

Well as stated, I exclaim loudly, so the caps are there for your benefit, as a visual indicator of my exclamation, so you can better understand how much I hate this 'feature'..

And, if you haven't experienced this feature, then I can understand why you may not yet hate it. Tho I know many people are fine with it... but for the way I drive, I expect the engine to remain running until I no longer want it running. I suppose 46 years of driving vehicles that remain running at all times might have something to do with it.

It's not so bad in a car with an auto trans.. but it does take some getting used to. It's really hard to get used to in my manual focus RS!!! For the first few drives I would think the car was stalling.. and it never fails right before you take off it decides its time to shut off. So there is a weird delay and it bogs and half turns off... fun. fuel savings in a car that gets 14mpg on the regular.

I didn't know you could get it with a manual. I would think it's stalling every time as well. Terrible idea

It's one of those things that works great on paper, but is going to cause nothing but trouble for older vehicles. Biggie is when it takes more than a few seconds to start and you need those seconds to cross an intersection because the light's timed badly.

Having driven one of those cars where squirrels just love to chew the trigger wire off the starter, it's close to being a deal breaker. At least there's a kill switch for it.

Our Cherokee has it, didn't like it at first
BUT with a little practice my "smart" right foot has learned to twitch just the right amount to start the motor but not let the jeep move (y)
Don't mind it at all now ;)

Its got to be something that helps manufacturers claim certain emissions or gas mileage or something like that.. I hate the delay of waiting for it to start every time, and it always seems to shut off just before I need to go again.. There's also no way it can be good for the starter..

Im just trying to get in the habit of making it part of my start up routine. Truck on>put in drive>turn off startstop

I like having silence when stopping at a stoplight or drive-through. It’s nice for a change compared to NVH of an idling engine wasting fuel. And before everyone starts screaming at me about the fact the stop/stop will wear out the starter, these engines are made for it (yes, even that DI ecoboost). Starting back up from a stoplight is not the same as fully turning over the ignition like when initially starting the vehicle.
But I got the hybrid, so I’m more offended when my engine does eventually turn on compared to cruising in electric only mode.

Yikes, another “efficient” ecoboost engine, huh?

The experience must be very different in the EB. This is my favorite feature in my Mav!
