So weird question here but bear with me for a second. The Maverick is my first truck and I'm not used to an open bed. I'm used to a car or SUV where it can be locked up tight. Have you ever had your bed storage cubby cover/plate stolen?

I live in a rural area and don't have to worry about that but sometimes I head into the city for a costco run or a doctors appointment and there are people who will take anything thats not tied down, and that cubby doesn't lock so it can be a target for the right person. What they'd do with it, I don't know.

Again, stupid concern, I know. I'm just looking at the possibilities.

OK you confused me---you said the cubby got stolen. I'm thinking someone took the whole works out of the bed/fender. It's the door you're talking about. Oh yea--if it ain't nailed down it will make it to marketplace. Side bar hold-downs as well. If it's a Lariat, better invest in a hard tonneau or you may find a slashed tonneau in the morning with things missing. Ya gotta love this world we're living in, but it's all we got.

I actually had worried about that so I purchased one of the steel locking replacements. Not that I keep anything in there that’s worth anything, but I just didn’t want the cover stolen.

So just out of curiosity myself. For anyone that doesn't carry anything it that cubby, or anything that important, why not buy a replacement if/when it gets stolen? Rather than buying one ahead of time and having a random extra one you probably won't be using 🤷‍♂️ again not trying to be mean or anything just curious. As a guy realizing that I've kept/collected too much crap in my small garage why have extra stuff taking up space?

Mabett doesn't make this locking cubby door and yopu can find the identical unit on either Temu or AliExpress for a lot cheaper.
