We've ran into this in other polls with similar topics. This is going to be skewed as forums normally attract older folks while other sites (such as Reddit or Facebook groups) attract what Ford would consider their target demographic for the Maverick.

Of course, the results of the survey are applicable to the membership of this forum. I'm not sure the members of this forum (judging by the ones that post) represent the actual norm that purchases the Maverick. Quite a few older adults here.

Edit: bgillen35 and I posted the same thing at the same time LOL

I guess I’m not so curious about the age as I am the habitat demographic. Some young people have farms, some old live in condos, and so on.

I am just trying to see where everyone is at on here.

I was part of a local subaru facebook group (before i quit facebook) and most everyone on there lived in neighborhoods.

I'm male, 34 living in an apartment. But I work on my mom's house during the summer and I expect having a small pickup will help me carry lumber, a new water heater, solar powered roof vents, ect.

I'm a 27 year old city condo dweller, so I'm pretty much in the Maverick's "target demographic."

Yup. Things like price and utility will attract a wide variety of buyer demographics. Younger people tend not to use forums; they're all on instagram and stuff. My take is they knew the price point would make it appealing to younger buyers who can't afford bigger trucks and the size makes it appealing to urban buyers. Smart moves by Ford to market to that age group. Us old farts already know we want the mav and Ford knows that.

There are houses in urban cities, too.
I kinda give this a pass, though. I take "suburban" in this context to include single-family-home housing developments. You do have a small number of houses nestled in among commercial and industrial areas, but houses are typically clustered together. You also have the situations, where some municipalities were "suburban" 10+ years ago, but are now clusters of houses bordered by commercial and industrial properties. I think "suburban house" is still the closest analog for those of us in those kinds of situations.

I generally agree. Having lived in urban single fam and suburban single fam neighborhoods, I think the main difference is the parking/driveway/garage space. Not really understanding the purpose of this poll, I'd think that space is one of the primary areas of interest for the question. In that respect, many suburban homes are going to be much more similar to rural homes, than urban homes (which often come with a small or nonexistent driveway, a single car detached garage, and reliance on street parking).

As a real estate appraiser who deals with the issue of urban vs suburban vs rural on a regular basis there really is no set definition of what each actually is. As far as I am concerned urban means having the infrastructure development one would normally find in a city. Stuff like public police and fire, sidewalks, street lights public water and sewer etc. Rural would typically include well and septic systems, county sheriff, volunteer fire departments, no side walks or street lights. Suburban would be pretty much in between the two, having some of the amenities of the city while lacking some others. Many of the "suburbs" actually have the same amenities found in more densely populated older cities.

No, an apartment means an apartment, whether 1 story or 100 stories.

The apartment can be in a city or rural area.

I live in an apartment complex in the suburbs.
Well, yeah, that was my exact point. What is there to learn from a survey that has the choice of a house or an apartment?

Per my original post:

I am also doing this survey, because I notice most owner photos are guys with neighborhood homes in the background.

I live in an apartment, as houses are too expensive now. Maybe I don’t fit the demographic for a Maverick.

I have also found that truck use can be dependent or linked to residential situation. Example: you live on a ranch, your use-case will be different than someone who lives in an apartment. I realize most home owners use their trucks for home depot runs, etc when it comes to the bed.
I am just curious if I am the minority here.

And for those too cool to vote house in the suburbs because your pad is in mid-town or something, please just vote house in suburbs, as it is the closest option.

I should have made it “House in Neighborhood”, but cannot update it now.

My only reason for having two house options is to differentiate between neighborhood houses and rural houses on acreage rather than lots.
I'm "too cool" to live in the suburbs but I went rural and now the suburbs are catching up to me here in the Peoples Republic of Illinois. I'm gonna take my Maverick and head for the hills. Just trying for a balance. My Maverick is gonna be a Ranchero.

I live in a 12'x16' cabin my wife built, we have over 1200 sqft of outdoor dry space for a lanai and my shop. Also our bathroom and shower is all outdoors. We live on the country, 15 miles from the city center of Maui. However Maui itself would fit inside a city such as LA or NYC.

I dont know where I fit into your poll.

I'm 57 , live in a small town on the MA/NH border . If I fly my drone straight up 400' or
so and do a 360 pan all you see is green forest .

I drive 50.5 miles to and from work with only 15 miles of it on a highway . I bring our trash to work and toss it in the dumpster , average 51.6 MPG on
my commute and frequently hit the HD on my lunch break .

This truck is absolutely PERFECT for
my daily needs . If more is needed I break out my Superduty .

The best of both worlds .
