FYI: I have a swinging tool box mounted in the bed of my truck. I went to HD to get a sheet of plywood. I took the box out. Supposedly you can lower the tail gate to haul plywood. The problem is that the mounts for the tool box are higher than the tail gate and so the plywood doesn't sit flat.
I ordered an XLT last September. In the meantime I purchased an XL, then two weeks ago I got an email from Ford saying my Mav was scheduled to be built the week of 5/30. Then last week I got an email saying production had been pushed back until the week of 6/6. I contacted the dealer and they...
From looking at mine. All I will need to do is lower the spare so I can drill it out then remove the small plate on the bumper cover where the hitch will be located.
Lots of very stupid assumptions on your part. If I had needed the hitch receiver at the time I would have just bought a different truck. But I didn't. For $100 I would still be waiting for a truck that might never get built yet this year. In the mean time I have been enjoying my Maverick for...
I believe the crash bar is 2 1/8 by 3 something. Not sure of the exact height. I plan to do the same thing. But you need to cut a bit off the top and redrill the receiver if you want it to fit right on it. Otherwise it would be lower and have a gap between the bottom of the crash bar and the...
Looks good. Some people seem to have issues with size though. (must be compensating LOL) I have a ten foot SOT for my truck and an inflatable SUP for my motorcycle. I ordered a hitch that I will mount and use the Harbor Freight bed extender like the OP
While I agree, some loc-tite takes care of a lot of that. But your response doesn't answer my question. Besides some of us do not have access to welders
is there any wiring or sensors in the crash bar that one would have to worry about effecting if the bar is drilled through? Any warranty issues if the crash bar is altered by drilling instead of welding?
I am curious, if the receiver is just welded on to the crash bar, why doesn't Ford just offer the receiver itself without the new crash bar? For that matter it appears as though the receiver has holes in it for bolts to go thru, so why can't the existing crash bar just be drilled thru and a...
I ordered a hybrid with a receiver back in August. I just got an email from Ford saying that they were having delays and would let me know when it will be built. In the meantime a dealer called me to say they had just taken delivery of one w/o a receiver. So I bought that one instead.
