Hey guys, went to change my cabin air filter for the first time. Watched this video first:

In it, he shows some sort of damper on the side that must be released first. But on my '24, I don't see a damper. I have that same knob that is designed for the damper to clip to, but no actual damper. Anyone know if they removed this for later builds? Or I'm wondering if I accidentally damaged or detached it while installing new speakers awhile back and forgot about it. I don't see any sign of it in the dash either.

My theory is. Very much like the insulation pads in between the fender wall in front of the doors.
These are non-critical parts.
When the parts bIn for the dampers run out, they don't stop the assembly line. They send the trucks out without it.
My 2023 hybrid XLT came equipped with glove box damper.

Here is the info if you wish to order one. Probably free delivery to your local Ford dealer.

Kind of like the tailgate assist damper I added.
It isn't necessary, but, it sure is a nice convenience.

Good Luck,

Thanks, I had a $15 coupon for eBay so just ordered one from a Ford dealer on there. I agree: not required, but nice to have.

Coincidentally, I noticed that yesterday. No damper on my 2025. But of course, now that I know the part number, I have to order one.

Isn't that awful??? That sort of thing has happened with me so many times, I've lost track. And the worst part is, it stays at the front of one's mind until the "situation" is resolved!

Just checked mine, build date 9/24, no damper. Now I will be able to sleep tonight šŸ˜„

Look how nice they work.šŸ‘šŸ¼

Nope! Just like the hood struts, and tailgate damper. Not needed.
I never said they were needed, just that they were a convenience. A nice feature to have.
I was at home Depot last week picking up plumbing supplies. I parked behind this 2024 Lariat hybrid. The owner came out a guy in his 40s we talked about our Mavericks.
Two things he couldn't believe Ford did not offer for the Maverick, was an auto dimming rear view mirror and a tailgate damper.

I HATE auto dimming mirrors personally. My Silverado had it and I did not like it. No tailgate damper either , my 2014 F150 had neither as did my 1992 Ranger. Somehow I managed to open the tailgates on both trucks with no issues . It's a truck tailgate not a hatchback so I never even knew they had dampers for them until I joined this forum. rear view mirror? If the headlights behind me bother me it's a simple flip of the lever instead of another electronic device to fail.
When did I say opening the tailgate was an issue? It's a convenience.
I don't have to hold it.
Just let It drop.

My 24 has one but I gotta say, it’s pretty cheap and really doesn’t do much. It would not change my life if it was not there.

My 2025 does not have it. While it’s something quick and easy I don’t miss it so I’m unlikely to add it at this point.

Kind of like the HybridAWD badge

Yes!
I have flashlight stacked on top that correctly bounces out into my waiting hand.
Damper would kill that effect.
