Posting this to see if it is a common issue and complaint.

One major issue I have experienced in my Maverick Hybrid is with the touch screen and specifically the back up camera. While utilizing the back up camera the camera feed seems to lag at times and freeze up or glitch. This has been a major problem and just makes me very afraid of backing up (I know I can just turn around and go old school, but modern vehicles are made with less visibility BECAUSE we can now rely more on the tech).

For example, I was backing up today and the coast was clear. As I am backing up the camera feed looks normal and nothing in the area, but then the camera lags for a split second and as a second goes by a little kid suddenly appears in frame! Basically on a normal functioning back up camera you see a live feed, but I have noticed the back up camera in my hybrid freeze up for a second or 2 on the constant basis. I have had plenty of other vehicles with back up cameras, but my Maverick's is just terrible and I believe it to be a big liability.

Is the rear camera delay set to on? Slight chance what you are experiencing is related. Try it with that setting to off.

On touch screen, option is under Settings -- Vehicle -- Camera Settings.

If it is already set to off, toggling it to on, exiting the Settings area and then going back in and setting it to off, maybe?

I've never had any backup camera problems. Over 5,000 miles. But I don't know if a Lariat camera system is different.

Doesn’t this setting just leave the reverse cam on for a few extra seconds?

That's why I specified slight chance. It's unlikely but not outside the realm of the possible the electronics burped and are somehow confused by reading that control as neither fully on nor fully off, but someplace in between.

Worth a shot to try it, at least.

Another remote possibility which comes to mind is that a connector to the camera, inside the tailgate, is not firmly seated and intermittent momentary vibration induced instability of the connection is the culprit.

What did your dealer say when you brought it in?

I’ve had my camera lag once. Took half a second for it to catch up. Not terrible but not great either.

Hi there! This doesn't sound like an experience we want you to have with your Maverick. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to see how I can assist you on my end.

My XL backup camera sucks. I've driven an 07 Lexus with a better backup camera. It's super low quality and extremely glitchy and laggy. Sometimes when you put the car in reverse, the screen turns black for 4 seconds.

This is also happening on my Maverick hybrid as well. I think this is a production glitch
