Any changes needed to get it on, or was it pretty much plug and play?

Very much plug and play. 3 screws and assembling the new piece with the factory part

You’ve found the right thing. The bolts in the picture come from GFB. You’ll need a tiny socket to get the factory ones off.

My experience from Diverter Valves is that there is a setting with spring or without spring. Without is like stock, with the noise, with spring it holds boost longer when let off throttle then stock, with the noise. The holding boost benefits racing where you are on gas, brake, gas quickly so you don't have to build the boost back up. Not sure if this DV is designed the same way. But a little info about the true propose of a DV, holding boost.
Pretty sure we aren’t racing mavericks

So was there any mods that had to be done? Or was it literally, unbolt the 3 bolts, lift up the stock valve, sandwich this "spacer" between the stock valve and the tube housing with the longer bolts provided?

Did you install one on your Maverick also? Was wanting to get a direct answer on something from someone that has installed this on their Maverick.
I have not but I did install a steeda one on a buddies fusion. Same concept. It is quite literally as you said, unscrew 3 bolts, sandwich adapter and screw factory valve back on top. Should be a 20 min job tops

What i was specifically curious about, is the GFB brand, and not the Steeda, comes with that little piece, that i assume, goes up inside the factory Valve itself. I was wondering if its to "block off the internal hole back to the discharge that goes to the intake. I'm really curious if im on the right track.

There is a little more then that because this actually improves your DV and it’s not just a noise maker. You remove the factory plunger and spring. Then replace it with the new. Snap the 2 parts together and then reinstall
