When they looked up from their phone they just panicked.

The person who hit me in my convertible said, “I looked up and it was green and clear and then when I looked up again you were there!”

I don’t think it ever occurred to them that driving requires constant attention rather than just occasional looking up from their phone.
The insurance company was going to accept their word for it and call it both of our faults, because there were no witnesses or video.
They later hired a lawyer, which helped because insurance escalated the claim to someone who took one listen to the other drivers statement and said they were at fault.
I’m sure the person who hit me still thinks that they did nothing wrong and will keep doing this until they kill somebody.

My dash cam is on the way.

Yes, it is frustrating when you see morons driving down the interstate with the traffic flow going 80 and some one decides to slow down to 40 to read a text. See it every day out here in West Texas. Or they stop in the driveway into a business to read a text.

Still trying to find an answer to the location of the 12 pin connector for the lane keeping assist for dash cam install. Don't know if it has been relocated or redesigned. My 26 Mav Hybrid Lariat has the lane keep assist system (Ford CoPilot 360 Assist 2.0) ACC, but the connector does not appear to be in the black overhead console behind the rear view mirror. ??

Been doing a lot of research on certain dash cams but it is frustrating dealing with customer service reps who have no knowledge of their products--voltages, features etc. But then again when everything is made in china, it is not hard to understand why.

That was one reason I decided to power from the OBD II Port - I took my 2025 Lariat AWD Hybrid to the dealership for a recall last week the technician thought it was a great installation and told me he would also do the same to power a DashCam if he was to do it

I learned the hard way to get a dash cam. This was before my Maverick .

I was on highway approaching my exit ramp. Three lanes I was in far right lane. Guy from far left lane just swerved over to make exit ramp collided with my driver door. Says It was ME who pulled into left lane hitting him. I had no proof. State trooper says he believed me and even told other guy that since He also said he wanted to get off same exit that I was approaching and made no sense for me to pull into center lane as exit was just ahead on right. BUT since NO PROOF. I had to use my collision with 500 deductible We BOTH had Gieco insurance .

After that bough a dash cam. Now on Mav that cam died and bough a three camera one . Don't drive without one as they will just LIE. No proof gieco just said we cant say and it will be on your collision . DON'T drive without one NO matter how well YOU drive.

Was rear ended back in October by a guy who was in a hurry and on his phone. He did get the ticket. Did not have rear cam on my Lexus though at the time. But his insurance sure tried to nickel and dime me on everything. Just have not decided on which cam yet for my Mav. I have it narrowed down to 2 or 3. Looked at Mangoal but decided not to after picture after picture of these connection, that connection, 2 or 3 views of the auto dim mirror, voltages for this etc etc. Or no response at all from some of the companies.

Darrell from experience and the over-all features I recommend talking a second look at the WolfBox brand I love everything about it although it’s only been installed a few weeks in my 2025 Maverick Lariat AWD Hybrid - there are so many setup options and the clarity is pretty amazing on all three cameras - I am now looking at installing one in my 2025 Subaru Forrester and my 2004 Jeep Wrangler TJ I may install one in my MotorCoach being I don’t have a Rearview Mirror in that rig and my existing cameras are real time only and my rear camera is only focused on my toad…

I have looked at a number of Dash cams--Wolfbox too--just have not made up my mind yet. I was hoping to plug into the LKA connector--my Mav Hybrid Lariat has LKA, but the connector is not in that overhead console. I have a gentex HFCHL4 5 pin Kia Style mirror that I can use to plug in a dash cam for pnp--like fitcamx, mercylion etc. I was hoping there was someone on the MTC forum who could tell me where the LKA connector is on the 26 hybrids.....? Thanks for the suggestion. I may give Wolfbox another look. At present I am looking at cams with IMX678 and HDR. Redtiger and Viofo seem to be pretty popular too. Before I had a factory install cam on my Lexus, I used a Aukey cam--plugged into 12 volt or usb. That little cam for 50 bucks was a super little cam.

I watched a few YouTube videos on the cams you mentions I think any of those would perform well for you👍

Yeah I think the ODB II port is the perfect solution, plus it’s fast and easy and you can focus on the camera part of the installation.

Nothing stopping you from swapping out to another method later, but the ability to just pop it on/off easily and anytime is a plus.

I would like some kind of pass-through so I could connect a Bluetooth ODB device at the same time, but that is a future me problem, not something I did daily anyway.
