I haven't - and wont' - try it, but I wonder what happens if you spin the knob while driving and go past N?

With *every* console-mounted forward-backward auto trans shifter stick (and column IIRC) you could slam the shifter forward from any drive gear into N and not past it.

There are times where disengaging the drivetrain is advantageous and has become an auto-reflex in more than 40 years of driving in slippery conditions.

I couldn't find anything in the manual about it and *I* don't want to be the guinea pig. lol

The computer merely takes your input as a suggestion. It decides what to allow the transmission to do.

Yep. Fun as heck but my ass is about 6" off the ground in the Miata. That's the reason I got rid of my Adirondack chairs.
Oh Tim! You just had to do it didn't you? You mentioned ADIRONDACK chairs. Now Jim Farley will have the engineers design those for the 27 Maverick seats. Save them .27 per vehicle! Remember the ex-member here who was constantly whining about the crappy seats? Oh boy! That thread would last several months! Hahaha

I remember winters in the Upper Midwest. I would shift to neutral when sliding.
*Before wide availability of ABS and fwd cars.

I've gotten used to that buttery smooth shifting on my Mav.
The eCVT on the hybrid never really "shifts", it just evolves into higher ratios.. ;)
It does take a bit to get used to it, as well as the rotating directional indicator selector switch, but the more I drive it, the more I like it.

Well, no, there's no gear changes. What I ment was the gentle, smooth transition from low to high speeds. Love the way it optimizes everything.

I drove my Miata for 9 years and 70,000 miles (an '06; the first year I could it into [well, with the top down. Up, it's low on my forehead . . .].

Anyway, it got lower and smaller every year!

Now it's been sitting waiting for a new engine for 10 years, which probably happens next year. Maybe it's grown again while I wasn't driving it . . .
Mine's a '92.

I' d need one for each foot

Or a saddle. I've told the driver assigner at the auction a couple of times that I'd need saddles for some of the things we were approaching!

Well...the spin to the left does put it Neutral for sure....LOL...but I don't think it will let it go any further to the left with the truck moving and maybe not moving AND foot on the brake. I'd check with Mythbusters or Nitro Circus to see if they want to try it.......:like::like::like:
