Good morning @deezionu1Andy, thank you so much for that information. Do you happen to have a link or the information of what I need to exactly purchase? I reside in Torrance California. I don’t know where you are so I guess I’m OOL. (Out of luck). I just hope I don’t have to do any drilling. Thanks, Dee.
Yes, I am quite aways away from you here is sunny southern Manitoba!
No matter, I can still try to help you with information and encouragement...after all, we all want you to be able to drive your Maverick comfortably as well as safely.
So to find what is available to you you should search Amazon.com for the products I will add in photos below.
Just type in "Floor Mount Gas Pedal" into Amazon's search box and these should come up for you.
They have the name and description of the gas pedal extender I found here on Amazon.ca, so prices etc will be different for you if you find something you would like to try.
You say you do not wish to drill. If possible, I would recommend it but it is only drilling rubber floor mats as I have done, and it only 2 small holes for the securing bolts to pass through. It might be possible to poke a couple holes through the mat with an awl, once all measurements and placement is confirmed.
I have all weather WeatherTech floor mats which are perfect safety-wise in my opinion as they also attach at the rear to make sure the mat does not creep forward.
Is it possible you have someone that is willing and competent to help you in this? Even if it is a local garage mechanic or neighbour or the like who you know would do the job as it isn't difficult...some mechanical competency is needed of course, to make sure it is installed safely and correctly.
If it is someone you would need to pay, it shouldn't be expensive as it isn't a difficult task. And getting it done would be worth the small cost of making your driving experience so much better and safer!
The most important part is the ensure the plate is situated properly where the pedal extender is perfectly centered on the gas pedal and forward enough to ensure there is no chance of it disengaging when the gas pedal is fully depressed.
If you search the first item pictured, they really go into depth on their installation and lots of photos of how to do it. The one I installed is very similar to the less expensive (generic) pedal in the 2nd photo.
Please note that the first item is a bit different in that in their design in that a rectangular hole needs to be carefully CUT through your floor mat and NO drilling is needed...so thinking about it, you can get away with just cutting a bit bigger of a hole for the 2nd pedal indicated below as well, so then no drilling is required but a sharp Exacto or utility knife is needed.
I would not just place the base plate on top of your carpet or mat, we need a good, secure installation to ensure no movement. I think that photo is only for illustrative purposes only.
I hope this is what you have in mind for assistance and if you have further questions, please feel free to ask!
If you have more questions, of course you can message me directly through this app, as that might work for you as well.
Have a nice day,
Andy
