With the recent subzero blizzard and holiday travel a couple local gas stations ran out of gas.

I guess that means all their tanks have new gas, but I wonder about water getting stirred up, mixed in the gas with this cold weather

I started wondering about gas tank additives. Common stuff like heet or seafoam to pull any water out of the fuel system

Is it safe for new motors?

A quick look thru the owner's manual only says don't use

Ford Maverick Gas additives safe for 2.0 Ecoboost? Heet / Seafoam 1672081711027

It specifically says to NOT use any oil additives.

I've always heard good things about Chevron Techron, but I not sure if it does anything with water in tank (doubt it)

I agree there is a time to use those additives but generally not until you have a few thousand miles on the engine - and less needed if you use Top Tier gasoline at every fill up. At least that is my experience.

Op was asking about removing moisture from the gas lines and using the Heet additive. I've not had that problem, to my knowledge, with any engine.

Every vehicle I've ever owned gets Lucas about once a month, and Chevron Techron once a year.

Thanks to all. I don't really want to add stuff but top tier stations are hard to find where I drive. It's pretty much all convenience stores.

Fortunately, I have an Exxon that is most convenient for me and that is what I use. Otherwise I stopped putting additives in my fuel long ago. It is literally cheaper to just buy a higher grade gas than bottles of additive.

Heet won’t hurt your engine, that said you probably won’t need it anyway. If you park in a heated garage and typically run your tank dry, then it can be a benefit.
Most new car gas tanks are made with some sort of plastic so they don’t typically generate moisture.
Most gas stations have water separators built into their pumps.
If it gives you peace of mind add it, if you start to notice the engine hesitating it will help.
Older cars and trucks can have some sort of metal tanks, so it definitely helps them.

Heet is a product that is no longer needed, every gallon of gas you buy has 12 ounces of alcohol in it already, adding another 12oz won't help anything. Even if you buy non ethanol premium, you are still going to get a little in the hose from the last person to use the pump, if in doubt just pump a couple gallons of low grade in & you have all the alcohol you need. Underground tanks don't have the water problem in them today, the ethanol in the gas absorbs it, so with every fill of the underground tanks it keeps moisture out.

There are still folks out there buying dry gas/Heet/gas line antifreeze, which is mostly, or all, alcohol: methanol or isopropyl alcohol.

The alcohol in your pump gasoline, ethanol, takes care of moisture/water in your fuel system the same way that methanol or isopropyl alcohol does. And, as mentioned above, a single gallon of 10% ethanol pump gas contains more alcohol than an entire bottle of dry gas! Don't waste your money!

The ethanol in your tank can absorb a lot of water and then suffer separation, but I think this only takes place after it sits for a very long time. Fuel treatments like Stabil or Startron can allegedly prevent/delay this.

Plenty of condensation on a regular basis in gas oil etc. Dont worry about it. My catch can fills with water weekly in the winter months. 3oz a week. Aluminum engine and cold air makes water.
