Yes - system knows the temp of the pump like many models do - these ain't ancient systems.
That is a "fact" I have heard before but have never seen any evidence of it.
There are fuel temperature sensors used to calibrate fuel delivery, but a temperature sensor for the fuel pump seems to be a unicorn, or maybe it doesn't exist. I can't see why it would be needed.

Those who have run it dry have reported 60-80 additional miles after empty a few even more!
What if they were short of their destination by ten miles. That's a long walk.
The problem with running on empty is it might actually be empty at an inconvenient time.
What if that "normal" commute turns into miles of stop and go, which uses lots more fuel?

I can see why it would be good to know how far you can go, in case of an emergency, but running with an empty tank consistently to me just seems stupid.

There are a few that like to get 800 miles on a tank. I personally fill up with no less than 90-120 mile left. I have had to wait for a wreck on i-40 in New Mexico for about 90 minutes in August. (3rd car, a station wagon, in front of me took a high powered rifle round in drivers side rear tire at 75-80. He flipped and rolled in bar ditch. Nothing like first day of season!!!).

I drove a '26 hybrid for a bit recently and I drove it about 30 miles past when it said 0 miles to empty. And I pumped in a little over 15 gallons of fuel.

I used to fill the tank when it was at half indicated, but that is because basically every vehicle I've owned gets like 250-400 miles a tank. When I drove the Maverick hybrid, I'd run it down to 1/4 remaining indicated because that was easily another 150+ miles of range.

I think that’s what I’ll do. 1/4 tank left and refill.
