2025 XLT AWD Hybrid. Pulled into refuel with 40 miles on DTE indicator. Low fuel warning came on at exactly 50. Truck took 13.4 gallons (13.8 capacity). Much too fine for me. I will refuel in the future before the 50 mile low fuel warning in the future.

I think, correct me guys,
It took my fuel gage in my 24 Ecoboost a few tanks to get accurate.
I never run into that last quarter tank because my fuel pump is in the tank and being submerged in the fuel keeps it running cool,
So it will last longer.

Old knowledge, may not apply to our over engineered Mav’s.

They fixed the fuel pump issue a long time ago by running the return into a bucket around the fuel pump, which overflows into the tank. So even when the fuel pump is sucking air (which is still not good for the pump, in fairness) it is cooled by remaining fuel in the bucket.

As to the tank capacity, I haven’t run mine dry yet but have put over 15 gallons in on more than one occasion, and another owner did run dry intentionally and found the hybrid has the same 16.5 gallon capacity as the EB.

Not so much a "lesson learned" as a just a scare. But being cautious can keep one out of trouble.

I see the "25 mile" warning fairly often, and don't have any concerns, given my suburban environment and multi-vehicle household...

I have heard a faint buzzing sound once near the back left passenger seat area while driving during low fuel level. I wonder if it was the sound of the fuel pump?

I regularly run my hybrid 20 to 30 miles BELOW "0 miles remaining", and refill 14.4 to 14.7 gallons.

I put 15.8 gallons in my hybrid one day on a very slow pump. My MPG's gage read 43 which calculates to take 13 gallons as well as the gas gage itself. There was no spill over which means that the pump had an anti spill over syphon. I have noticed that there are a lot of slow pump that don't trigger off are equiped with an anti spill over syphons. Be careful. Calculate before you fill.

At 1/4 tank I can put 13 gallons in my Ecoboost.

.
When did Ford increase the Mavbrid’s fuel tank to Ecoboost specs ?
In reality it has been 16+ gal. since day one.
The posting "Tested and Confirmed" was by somebody who had 22 hybrid.
In other words the manual is wrong.
That said, there could be many reasons why the manual states 13.8.
Has anybody run their EcoBoost down the empty and shown at the pump how much they were able to put in?

Ecoboost holds ~ 18.5 gallons including the reserve.

No changes.

Been the same from the start.
Physical size and "nominal use" are two different values.

If you do the math, the hybrid computer uses 13.8 gallons as an assumption for a full fill and the EB computer assumes 16.5 gallons.

It has no idea what is in the neck or not or what is in the sump below the gauge. There remains gas below the gauge being on E.
