Degrees in C times two plus 30. I can't figure out below freezing temps.
C degrees = (F degrees-32) * 5 / 9
F degrees = (C degrees * 9 / 5) + 32
km = miles * 1.6
miles = km / 1.6
U.S. gallons = Litres / 3.79
Litres = U.S. Gallons * 3.79
U.S.mpg = 235 / L/100km
L/100km = 235 / U.S.mpg

interesting... good to know it is based on something, tho not sure how many ppl will relate to the temp that brine freezes ;)
Its not even accurate. That 0F assumes pure water at the brine saturation point at sea level only. And the 100F is high by 1.5 to 3.5 degrees, depending upon the person.

Formula

(-40°F − 32) × 5/9 = -40°C
or
-40°F = -40°C :crazy:

Being a Canadian, it’s hilarious watching you ‘Mericans’ trying to figure out metric crap. Don’t get me wrong, I’m 68 and when it first came out, it bit the big one. Years later I think I get it! 🤔

I've started using millimeters for all my 3D prints.

So easy to go "10% bigger" than 150 mm.

Quick! In your head! What's 10% larger than 5 15/16" ?

That is a very rough approximation.
Agreed. F has roughly twice the resolution on C, even though it +/-s from 32. I'm very comfortable between 70 and 80,

I frequently watch a pair of car guys in Australia. Horse power is expressed in kilo watts and speed is expressed in K/hr. When they "drag race", it's at a 1/4 mile track.😂

Zero Celsius is when water freezes. Brine starts to freeze at -21.1 C. That is why they pretreat roads with brine. BTW that's -6 F.
...and pure water (demineralized) can be super cooled to WAY below 0 C.

100°F is based on approximate human body temperature.

just be sure not to jostle it afterwords!

I wonder if something like supercooling accounts for the 102% humidity that I once saw reported in Iowa . . . (it was the only day within a couple of weeks with a humidity other than 100%!)

There's more than one kind of salt, therefore more than one kind of brine.

Thanks for making a simple statement complex. I'm sure everyone appreciates the fact modern science has refined freezing points based on the original 1726 ones.

Your simple statement was WRONG!!!!!!!
Sorry if FACTS bother you. Celsius DID NOT use brine to establish ZERO. Fahrenheit did!
"

  • Early Temperature Scales: Scientists like Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit and Anders Celsius developed their temperature scales in the 18th century, initially using the freezing and boiling points of water as reference points. For example, Celsius initially set the freezing point at 100°C and the boiling point at 0°C, which was later inverted. Fahrenheit's original scale had the freezing point of water at 32°F, but his initial zero point was based on a salt-water mixture."
And now you are putting words in my mouth I never said. Maybe you have confused me with someone else.

🙄

Yes but but you don't have pure water in your pipes or falling from the sky or coating your driveway.
I wasn't implying that I did. I was just adding more useless knowledge to this important discussion of the basis of Celsius degrees.
