For the last few days I have been organizing my songs/files on the microSD to put on my Android phone.
When it comes to order and organization I am a little excessive as I always expect perfect order and organization, my order and organization. Even past 75 years I barely recognize that most of the time this does not happen.
Any way I spent hours organizing every thing by genre, and alphabetical order in different folders and so on.
After put the SD card back on my phone all this beautiful work is wasted, Android organize everything its way, which is not mine.
I tried different media player to always have the same result and none of them seems to show my songs lists on the display on the maverick.
What do you use? How do you do it?

Thank you.

This is what I do now.

I am a music lover. All genres. I used to put them on SD Cards just like you and organize them by style, artist and date them as I go. With 3 different cars that I have driven over the decades, I could NOT stop the stupid system from shuffling and completely dismantling years of files that I put together.

My solution? Youtube music. I have been able to find EVERY artist from virtually EVERY genre, put together my OWN playlist and then no matter where I am (Desktop computer, Laptop or ANY car I am in) I can retrieve my music in the order that I want.

Yes, I have to pay for this, but it works. It also doesn't take long to build each folder as youtube music will recommend artists based on the genres you select.

I've never looked back to USB or SD cards. This works for me. May not be what you want to do, but it is one solution of many that I am sure others may suggest.

Thank you Curtis. I did just that yesterday and even if it is better, I still am not fully satisfied as YouTube Music add their own favorites in mine.
I already subscribe to YouTube and You tube Music so for me there is no extra charge. Does it still work somewhere with 'no reception"?

Poweramp can browse by folder hierarchy if that's how you have everything. Annoyingly you can't access features like the equalizer or other audio playback settings it offers on the truck display, but I think that's just a limitation of how Android imposes a certain unified UI for audio applications.

You can DOWNLOAD your Library so it will be saved in your phone and played without internet service.

There is a great, free app on Google Play called "Simple Music Player" which works extremely well for playing music off of SD cards. It is also ad free, and works seamlessly with Android Auto.

https://play.google.com/store/search?q=simple music player&c=apps

I am in to old radio shows, and I have an SD card in my phone with 8 years worth of CBS Radio Mystery Theater on it, organized by year and date of broadcast. Plays great through the Maverick with this app.

As long as your music is tagged properly, Musicolet (android app, free) will auto-organize on your preference of album, genre, year, artist, etc., and lets you organize custom playlists. Save yourself the trouble of doing by hand what a computer can do in fractions of a second.

YouTube music is a great suggestion. I've also been testing out TIDAL, as they use only FLAC (lossless) audio. Its features are comparable to YT Music, but I feel like I get more obscure/unknown stuff in addition which I like. Especially if you start a radio station based off of a song.

With both you can create playlists and download to a device for listening in areas without reception.

Yes, it plays your files on their stored files. You're never without music.

I want to be able to read my lists on the display, so far nothing does it.

Thank you all for your help.
