Well somebody must be buying them? There was a guy in another thread who said he paid 10K above and was happy with what he did, I guess if you have an extra 10 to 20 K laying around you can say I want it so i will get it,. Must be nice to be able to do that. If I suddenly had the money I still wouldn't. I just cant be ripped off like that and be happy. I will change my mind had I won that billion lotto a week ago.
This. Everyone's arguing about who is more greedy, instead of looking at the root cause, which is about who is more stupid. I know, I know, in some rare cases somebody has a car that suddenly is completely unrepairable (was in an accident), but c'mon, most of the people who pay ADM did so willingly. Dealers and private sales above MRSP continue to happen because people continue to pay it. There's never going to be a way to legislate against bottomless stupidity.

I gotta keep reminding people that the USA has tens of millions of millionaires, and gobs of multi-millionaires. Wish I was one of them. But to a lot of people, $10,000 is lunch money. So saying they're stupid is a failure to exercise your imagination. It's nothing to them. They literally have money to burn.

That said, a million dollars isn't what it was back when Gilligan's Island was on the air.

You're not wrong about the number of millionaires, but I can't see them buying Mavericks. Not trying to pick a fight, I'm just thinking about what I'd buy if I were one. Maybe fleet sales for a business? I guess.

Just because someone is a millionaire doesn't mean they will spend stupid money on ADM or don't want a good value vehicle. A good many millionaires got there through hard work and saving. Blowing dumb money isn't in their blood. Now wealthy multimillionaires is a different story potentially. But someone in their 60s or 70s with a million+ in savings and assets isn't wealthy to be stupid with money.

That's how the free market works. If you don't like it, perhaps you'd like the government to tell you exactly what vehicle you'll get the chance to buy when they get around to it.

You think the wait for a Maverick is long?

Try the wait for one in a Soviet style economy.
I think you missed the point. And no I'm not into communist type shit. It's people getting greedy. They did that with the housing bubble too. When it burst, there was a lot of sour grapes. I'm betting there will be a lot of sour grapes with these too when the party comes to an end.

Would as million air want a Maverick? I wouldn't. Even the Lariat with lux package is still rather spartan compared to other luxury cars. Does the lariat have Navigation or sync 4. Power seats with memory I could go on and on. Its good in its regular price point. Its a total ripoff at 10 to 20K above msrp.

You had no point, other than whining about people being capitalists and charging what the market will bear.

If they end up holding a rapidly depreciating asset when the bubble bursts, that's the other side of a free market and I'll have zero sympathy for them as well.

I was not whining. Just putting it all out there to show the absurdity and how stupid it all is. I am glad to see you have zero sympathy for them as well

We fall into this category and we bought a Maverick, a lightly optioned one for MSRP (minus a few rebates). Most people who fall into this category (ode to Thomas Stanley, we'll call them millionaires next door) did not get there by overpaying or buying things they don't want/need. I could spend $10k more than I have to on a car and it would have zero impact on my life, but under no circumstances will I.

Not only that, but I tend to keep stuff like vehicles as long as possible. Hoping to get 15 years minimum out of this truck. I'm not in the rust belt so it's definitely doable

Yes there’s was one maverick lariat fx4 near me for 10k markup. I offered to take it off their hands for 3k over MSRP, they rejected my offer. It’s still in the lot for 2 weeks now. Gimme a break.
I paid zero mark up so.... they might mark it up since it's a demo unit to show customers

I think its shitty either way. Its shitty hearing about people buying 2-3 of em then flipping them to carvana for $10k to $12k when there are other people who cant even get 1 order fulfilled. And then there are the shitty dealers who also want a piece of the gluttony like the rest of em and have a scrap of paper taped on under the window sticker with some B.S. ADM.

Myself personally I ordered what I wanted on December 28th and have patiently waited. Build week is august 15th. I didnt order this vehicle to flip it. I genuinely wanted this vehicle. As such, I am glad that the Granger deal fell into my lap. With a wife and 4 kids, I am on a limited budget for new vehicles, and desperately need a new daily driver. This deal allowed me to step up 1 trim level to an nicer XLT with all the same options I planned on ordering with an XL.

I dont care for all the gimme pigs making obscene profits off these weather it's a private seller, carvana, or a dealer. Whoevers doing this, all of y'all suck as far as I am concerned. All of you are acting like this thing is a 4 wheeled "beanie baby". When the bottom falls out, I hope all of you currently trying to game the system private party sellers, and dealers included get stuck with these damn things.

Gordon Gekko said greed is good. Sorry to inform you, but it's not.
Amen! I was just having this conversation with a friend recently. He was lamenting not ordering 2 or 3, keeping one, and flipping the other two. I stated that this is not something I would feel comfortable doing.

I debated for about 3-weeks between two configurations and ended up with the XL 2WD Hybrid for my order. Then, a few months ago and after driving both a hybrid and Ecoboost, I realized I should have ordered the EB. I will place an order for the EB configuration when the MY23 order books open up and enjoy the hybrid XL until it arrives.

I want a Maverick because it is reasonably priced and offers the utility of a truck (all the utility I need as a suburban dweller). I don't need a truck, but for the price of the Maverick it makes a lot of sense. Add $10k to the MSRP and it doesn't make sense anymore.

I'm not going to pay an ADM to get a Maverick. For the price of a Maverick I can buy a Toyota Camry and likely get better gas mileage (gas v. gas and hybrid v. hybrid) and better resale value down the road. The Camry also has standard features like adaptive cruise that are optional or unavailable on the Maverick (depending on trim). What the Maverick has is a bed and a lot of utility for the same money.

I bought a 2022 RAV4 new without any ADM in April of this year. Buying a Toyota without ADM is an option. I'm not paying it for a "low priced" truck.
