I'd like to utilize some of the things that I could do with Forscan but I don't feel comfortable knowing that I could possibly really mess things up with my Maverick and I don't really want to buy the equipment, license etc to change the one or two settings I'd like to change. It seems like someone with the knowledge and equipment could make a decent amount of money performing theses services for a reasonable charge. The dealership won't even consider changing these settings and other businesses in my area who would be the most likely to be able to perform these tasks either do not have the equipment or license to do it or they are more into the tuning aspect or getting more horsepower type stuff and mostly work with sports cars. Is there anywhere that that you know of that does these types of services for a fee? I'd like to turn off the two honk feature and the seatbelt menu at startup , maybe a few other settings. Thanks in advance!

Wish I could turn off the damn beeping on startup and turn off along with that seatbelt warning.

I was in the same boat as you. But I saved the factory settings and haven’t messed anything up yet… except for the part where a focus shows up on my dash instead of the Maverick. But that’s not that big of a deal to me.

Take the leap and go for it. You’ll end up going back in and making more changes eventually.

Thanks for the info but to be honest, I'd really rather pay someone else that has the knowhow and experience. Plus that's an awful lot of money to spend on the whole setup and I do not own a windows laptop.

I have no desire to ever use forscan. Your comment about cost made me wonder if the cost to buy forscan and a laptop (I don’t have one) is high enough that it would make more sense to spend money on a higher end model to get some of the features people want to access

I'm waiting for warm weather to jump in. I bought the license ($20 to support development), have the connection and laptop. Just want to get the parameters loaded so I can see what is where before I start changes. Auto stop, seat belt reminder, chimes, key fob window controls, turn signal 3-5 click change if possible.

I'm sure there are more.

There are many items that moving up from say XLT to Lariat, won't get you much. Most of us using Forscan, are wanting to turn off seatbelt nags and displays, ding ding ding, auto start/stop and many others. All of these are not available on a menu on the truck. Ford would be glad to do it using their factory program (FDRS), but I'll bet it would cost a fortune and I suspect many of the items they would not allow, for fear of legal actions.

I bought a cheap USB OBD adapter for $15 and a $130 windows tablet (with included case and keyboard)

it’s not all that expensive. It was a no-brainer for me.

I'm not sure where people get the idea that a Forscan setup is expensive. Old laptops are very easy to come by, so you can easily have the complete setup for $100-150. It's not even close the the cost of moving up to the next trim level which won't get you most of what you likely want to change in Forscan anyway. It's not even a requirement to buy the license for the software--just keep updating the free trial license whenever you need to make a change.

Many don't feel comfortable doing this on their own. Doesn't mean that they're stupid. Just means they don't feel comfortable doing it because it's possible to cause more harm than good if you don't know what you're doing. They'd rather not take the chance and choose to let someone who knows exactly what they're doing complete the task.

Who said anything about anyone being stupid?

When the spreadsheet has multiple lines for dealing with your change, do you have to change it in every one?
