What a train wreck Ford Motor Company is....

We ordered on 9/16/22 :

As soon as the 2024 order banks open my salesman at Bill Brown Ford will be reordering this version and an 2.0 Eco Boost version in my wife's name to see which shows up first. I was really looking forward to 40 mpg!

Ford Maverick Ford Update Letter #3 Logo-Ford-FordBlu
We know that you have been waiting for your 2023 Ford Maverick®since at least September, and we truly appreciate your patience.
The good news is that the key commodities holdups that have impacted the auto industry are easing up, allowing us to complete production on most Maverick orders with the 2.0L EcoBoost®engine. Unfortunately, battery availability continues to be an issue for Maverick orders with the 2.5L Hybrid engine. We would love to tell you how this will impact the order process for 2024 Maverick, but we’re still working through the details. We commit to getting you further details in July, either from us or directly from your dealer.
Please know that your 2023 Maverick order remains a priority. We will continue to schedule production through September and build through October.
Thank you again for your understanding throughout this process.

I got a “Dear John” letter on my ‘21 for an ‘22 order. Reordered a ‘23 10 days before you! It’s that tight. Your day will come! The race is on. I’m glad I have a good car that lasted until next month. Of course, now that is for sale, it feels like EVERYONE wants to hit it!!!

jewc75,

Sorry, I believe we’re well past blaming the pandemic that’s the excuse 3 years later, this poor planning and poor alignment on FMC’s part. Ford hit a nerve in the market and completely underestimated the demand.

That is a good question.

Bill Brown Ford I believe has well over a few hundred on order based on the number of sales people they have, my salesman alone has 30 or more on order. From what he tells me they keep getting a trickle of Maverick orders in and have plenty of Bronco Sports in stock.

Do you know your priority code? If one sales rep has that many orders, I'm not optimistic the dealer has nearly enough allocations to come close to getting all of them built this year.

At the time of the order it was a priority 15, how does FMC prioritize these, certainly not by the dealerships sales volume.

Bill Brown has been in the top five highest volume dealers in the US, number 1 for the last two years I believe, sadly Ford just doesn’t care about the dealers anymore plus the Maverick is low profit margin commodity vs the F150 as a high margin bottom line profit builder. The reality is FMC wants to limit the Maverick volumes.

FMC does not do the priority code. The dealer sets it at the time of the order. The higher it is, the less likely you are to receive your truck. My question would be if this dealer orders that many and gets so few built, why would you order 24 models from the same dealer. It would be like me owning two houses and listing one with a realtor who had it 10 months and did not sell it, so when I get ready to sell the second one, I choose the same realtor.

I am Ordering one that’s a hybrid one that’s not. In reading the last update hybrid batteries are the issue holding these up, it appears non-hybrids are being built.

Priority Code is dealer centric. If the dealer puts all PCs at 19 then it has no impact on order picked by Ford. If all his other orders are 10 and you are 19 then give up. Constraints, allocations and order date have impact. If the dealer has 100 Maverick orders but only qualifies for 20 then not much chance of getting yours. Hybrid has been the main constraint.

When Ford was planning the Maverick they were cautious because there used to be small trucks but people stopped buying them so they weren't optimistic of big sales. They did hybrid for appearance of trying to get more economic on CAFE and marketing. Batteries are short supply for all manufacturers except maybe Tesla. Ford has pushed its supplier this year to try to get more and it appears to have worked to a good degree with the increase of hybrid capacity the last couple of months and moving forward.

Also, some customers have been the problem ordering multiple Mavericks from different dealers trying to game the system. Everyone of those that gets built takes away orders from others. So a lot of blame can be assigned.

If you can't play the game you bought into I guess you can pick up your chips and go try to find a perfect manufacturer.

What a train wreck the pandemic caused, not Fords fault. Every industry has issues.
I'm sorry, but Ford has A LOT (if not the majority) of fault with this whole launch and continued train wreck. First off, to think that the original order split was gonna be 65/70% Ecoboost vs 35/30% hybrid was just asinine!! And if they have so many unscheduled RETAIL hybrid orders still in the order banks for 2023, then who's bright idea is it take EVEN MORE for 2024!!! It's not that hard to prioritize leftover 2023s. Allow any 2023 hybrid order not yet serialized by the day they open 2024 orders, to order another truck. All that's needed is a copy of a DORA that shows the 2023 order and it's receipt date. John Smith walks in, wanting a 2024 hybrid and he hasn't ordered one prior? Sorry about your luck, no truck for you. Ford, TAKE CARE OF THE RETAIL ORDERS IN THE SYSTEM FIRST!!! 🤬🤬🤬

But Ford, being Ford will open it up and they will get flooded with even more orders, they'll shut it down in a few days like last year and the cycle will just flipping repeat!! 🤬🤬

It's getting so irritating. Ad I've posted before, I sold Fords from '97-2020. Started when I was 20 years old. I lived and breathed Ford vehicles (especially Mustang). I was the "car guy" at my store (same store the entire time), I knew my product inside & out. Had a huge repeat customer base. I loved it, but throughout my time selling, my love was eroding near the end, as they took away good reliable cars for more & more SUVs and trucks (Fusion Energi is a fantastic car) When I left due to Crohn's disease, the only cars left were the last of the Fusions and the Mustang. I'm glad I'm not selling because I just couldn't be "that guy" cheerleading then anymore. I'm not a "truck guy" but the Maverick is basically my Fusion Energi I have now and it fits my lifestyle.

Once my truck eventually comes in (whenever the bleep that will be) it will be my last Ford I own. I'll drive it until the wheels fall off or the battery system dies. I'll always love my 2006 Mustang GT I have, but the company (and especially Farley) is just going the wrong direction and all these horrible vehicle launches and abysmal quality is really gonna hurt many years later. It's a shame, as when Mulally was running it, it was a fun time. When I left, early 2020, it wasn't fun anymore.

I wish we were past the pandemic. Most parts manufacturers are so behind on orders its ridiculous. I have a 2020 Peterbilt, it sat for 18 months waiting on a def multi sensor. I work on heavy equipment and 90% of the time the parts are not readily available. My point is how can Ford build the Maverick if their suppliers do not have the parts to supply?

I didn’t have a lot of faith to begin with however I feel that my salesman lied to me. He made me a lot of promises to get me to place my order through him.
He knew I was desperate for a vehicle. I wanted a Maverick and he lead me to believe that he was going to put me into a truck asap. He did nothing of the kind.
i was not aware that a priority could be assigned to an order. After reading all of the comments everyone wants their truck to br top priority so that will not work. He let me down and if I hadn’t been diligent contacting as many dealers as possible I would not be driving a Maverick now.
If there is one sin that Ford committed was not knowing the demand for what they wanted to sell. During the two weeks that they used to design the truck they should have been running focus groups to get a feel for the market. That is just bad marketing and bad management. The guy leading the parade seems like a good ole boy that pulling up his pants and saying we’re gonna straighten this place out. So far I am not impressed and think that even though he has not been there long his time on the job should not last much longer.
