To be fair, this new platform is all about smaller, and more affordable EVs. That's a use case where EVs are stellar, as compared to something like a lightning that's asked to tow a massive trailer. Not to mention we've seen demand for affordable EVs is pretty darn significant on a global scale.Because the recent Lightning was so successful.

But suburban moms dont want truck beds. Neither do Escape buyers....or they would have bought the Mav instead. One thing to keep in mind is that Ford isn't trying to sell this to anyone on this forum. They're gonna keep selling the Maverick, and the spy guys at AutoForecast say a Maverick redo is just three years away.
Ford even said recently, and I paraphrase poorly, "it's not really meant to be a truck". They make a big deal that it has more interior space than a RAV4. And that makes me think "suburban mom". I pulled that out of thin air, but there it is. I suspect Ford might be chasing the crowd that bought the discontinued Escape with this vehicle.
The above is absolutely correct..

The Lightning being based off the ICE model made more sense than the unibody GM EV trucks. At least the Lightning kept the full real truck functionality and all the aftermarket accessories still fit.Ah yes, the Ford lightning EV wave of the future.
