I had ordered 2022 Maverick Lariat 2.0 loaded with all extras in February of 22. Order was changed to a 23MY. I told dealer to add Co-Pilot 360+ which they did. This was necessary as adaptive cruise control was taken out of Co-Pilot 360. Finally in May of 2023 my Maverick came in without 360+. Ford had deleted it. They said it was because of chip shortage. I denied the truck. Bought a Hyundai Santa Cruz Limited that had everything I wanted and more. Price was a bit higher but if you added extras like solid roll up tonneau cover and a few other things that you can’t get in a Maverick it made it more comparable. Plus a lot better warranty. I have been a Ford owner for many years but was really disappointed with this order. Oh well, that’s life.

Don't blame Ford. This is ALL your Dealers fault. Ford has never had a constraint issue with the 360 Co-Pilot Assist. Sorry you had to settle for the Santa Cruz. It is a good vehicle IF you like what it does better. But if you need what the Maverick does better, it won't work.
I had to add 360 Assist to my order too. Had to call Dealer to do that when I seen the order form. Asked for an updated order form, and it was showing the added 360 Assist.

Have you always worked with this dealer?

Everything I'm reading and hearing points to what others have already said - this was a dealer screw up. Maybe they just didn't know how to do this correctly. That would be best case. In a more concerning scenario, they did know what they were doing and left your order as-is so that you might not take the truck. They made a lot more money by you refusing your truck than they would if you had bought it.

This was first time I had dealt with this dealer. Did so on recommendation from a friend. I suppose that could have happened. I had to explain to them that adaptive Cruise control was taken out of Co-Pilot 360 and was now separate. Kind of bad when a customer has to explain how to order a vehicle. Anyway, they assured me they changed the order, but now with this information it looks like they might have done as suggested. if that is the case they have lost a potential future customer.

This is why customers should always insist on receiving a WBDO build sheet from their dealers so they know exactly what was ordered. Dealer screwed up by not adding the Co-Pilot 360 and assist in the package for the full adaptive cruise control, or there was a miscommunication, or at worst they deliberately removed it from the order hoping that you'd walk away. Either way, getting the build sheet should have shown what was on the order, and the window sticker definitely would show what would be included in the vehicle so that there should have been no surprises by the time pickup happened.

Sorry this happened to you, but unfortunately due diligence is required as a Maverick customer too.

Ford didn’t change anything. Most likely dealer didn’t put it in correctly. Dealers are not ford.
You can't buy direct, so I would disagree. That being said I see no need for dealerships as the cons far outweigh the pros..

State law prohibits established car dealers from selling individual vehicles directly to customers. Decades ago car dealers got lucrative franchise laws passed in every state. You don't buy a car from a car manufacturer you buy from an authorized franchisee.
Besides with no car dealers who would provide warranty repair?

I'm well aware of government overreach. The manufacturer pays for warranty work (albeit at a reduced rate the reason many dealers are reluctant to fix issues) so any repair shop the manufacturer authorized could facilitate warranty work.

Some dealers may be honest but unfortunately many are not. Buying something as expensive as a vehicle should not be luck of the draw especially in the situation of the Maverick (sight unseen).

I'm not sure I want any of my warranty work to go to the lowest bidder who will not put any of their techs through the training needed to fix my Ford.

I worked at a Ford dealer for several years and I never witnessed a situation where they tried to get out of doing a warranty repair because of lower rates being paid by Ford.

Sounds like you had the privelage of working for one of the good dealerships, but again unforutuantley they are not all good (just read all the posts of cancelled orders/renegotiating terms or out right stealing custumer orders/etc). And unlike warranty work where you can take it to another dealership if your unhappy or not treated right you have no recourse if by chance you ordered your vehicle from a shady /incompentent dealer.

Although I don't have personal experience with warranty work in the 3 previous fords owned (I would be upset to have any problems in 36k or less), I have read lots of horror stories on owner forums about dealers not taking care of customers. I have personally experienced higher repair rates at dealerships (All dealerships not just Ford) which is why I typically go to independent repair shops/DIY

Point being with the "new" way of buying (ordering) vehicles I don't see the need of a dealership.
