Ford changed my Maverick's color without me knowing.

So I Picked up my 2023 Maverick last Monday and I didn't see the truck until all the paperwork was done. As I walked outside, there it was and I immediately thought well, that is a lot darker than I remembered. It was a very cloudy day and the sun was going down and it was also parked under an unlit overhang at the dealer. I just figured that it would lighten up in the sunlight. The next day, the sun was out and I still thought that it was darker. I ordered it Nov 2021 and chose Velocity Blue. I checked the original order VS the window sticker and it was switched to Atlas Blue. I received no notification of this. The last email I received from Ford was Nov 2022. Then it was rolled over to a 23 and the emails ceased. The dealer said he didn't know anything about it. This is my first new vehicle purchase at 50 years old. (it was a b-day present to myself), I spoke with the sales manager and told him I was very unhappy about it and he stated that he would reach out to his Ford factory rep or some regional guy and would get back with me. He also stated that there was nothing he could do and Ford was most likely not going to do anything about it either. I waited a year and 3 months and it shows up the wrong color. Not happy. Has anyone else had this happen? What are your suggestions?

Nothing you can do, Velocity Blue was MY22 only, it was replaced by Atlas Blue for MY23.

As a Velocity Blue owner, I think Atlas Blue is the second best blue (don't tell the Alto Blue folks ). Plus VB wasn't offered for 2023.

As for what I would recommend you do?

I find it a bit brazen that they would just change the color without notifying the customer. I own a guttering company and I couldn't imagine changing the color of my customers gutters without speaking with them first. I'd be out of business real quick......

Your dealer likely didn't even notice the change when they had to do the roll over. Person likely saw, blue and moved on to the next thing. It's honestly kind of normal in the automotive buisness for paint colour options to change year to year.

I second @bgn and recommend you enjoy having your truck.
As other responders have mentioned Velocity Blue (VB) was 22 MY specific. Atlas Blue is the closest color option to VB.
Did you receive any paperwork when your order transitioned from a 22 to 23 MY?
I see you just joined yesterday, but have you visited here before or looked at Ford's build and price for the Maverick? Threads here and the build and price would have made you aware of the VB delete/swap for Atlas Blue.
If the change in color is a deal breaker for you, I'm sure someone here would happily buy the truck from you.

Yes, I have visited this site before but was searching for what kind of aftermarket wheels people were buying for their truck. I never saw any thing about the color change and never received any emails, phone calls or posts about the color change. Never received any paperwork either.

This side by side color comparison may help you feel somewhat better about your color change.

I think you'd have a bigger beef if they'd changed your order to Alto Blue or Area 51 or any other color for that matter, but as previously stated Atlas Blue is the closest available color to VB.
I hope you're able to move past this and appreciate finally having your truck.

Your dealer should have told you, but Velocity Blue wasn't available for 2023, so you couldn't have gotten it. Atlas Blue is what they defaulted all the Velocity Blues to
