Good video. Great things to keep in mind with the EcoBoost maintenance. Nothing fatal. He seems to be positive of GDI in general.

Basically kind of what everyone knew, use the right oil, and every 50-60K miles you're probably going to want to have your valves professionally walnut blasted. There is a solution to this though, which are engines that are both port and direct injected depending on engine load/rpms/etc. Best of both worlds, and is now the norm for engines recently designed.

The Hyundai Santa Cruz 2.5T just designed in 2022 uses both for example, where as the Ecoboost 2.0 is an older design so is well proven but only DI.

You know the 2.5 is direct injection as well, right?
I was curious about this myself. Ford literature states it's SMFI on the 2.5L

I deleted because I was going from what a tech mentioned last night but I'm thinking it is SMFI.

Just going to leave this here:
From the dawn of internal combustion engines, each design has challenges to overcome. Remember back in the day when manufacturers first came out with 50,000 mile powertrain warranties (1960s). Well, guess what, if not maintained properly, they would barely last 50,000 miles before major repairs were needed. The guys that maintained them drove many repair free miles over the 50,000 miles. The direct injection is no different in that reasonable maintenance is the key to any engine longevity. I'm not worried.

I don't worry about the grid going down, but if it does I'm not charging an EV or pumping gas.
Good thing there is a such thing as gas cans. Turns out 10 galllons can take you a few hundred miles, or run a generator. I'd rather not be forced to sit at home in the cold and dark in an emergency.
