Congrats on the Prius, I also think you made the correct call. I would have bought a Prius over an XL or XLT Maverick, as well. But loaded up the price difference widens - the Prius Limited was over $5,000 more expensive than my Maverick Hybrid Lariat Lux. I wanted the additional features of the higher trim levels, so Maverick is what I am going with.
Thanks! Yeah it really just made sense. Especially since the best deal on a used 2017 Prius I was looking at that was 4 hours away (in a more populated area) had 60k miles on it and they wanted $22,500 for it. So for less than $4000 more I got a brand new one with 46 miles on it and all the warranties.

Well, that happened fast but I went to browse the local Toyota dealer to see what they had to test drive, and ended up walking out with a 2022 Prius Eco L for just a smidge over MSRP ($500) after talking them down from their $2000 market adjustment. I’m pretty happy with the purchase and it ended up coming out to almost exactly what my XLT hybrid was going to cost and it’s the same color as my mav. The 2022 has much more “normal” and simpler styling than the previous generation which I really like and is supposed to be the most fuel efficient yet which will suit my needs as a commuter. I’m still going to lurk on this forum though since my Dad has a maverick on order as well 😉
Thank you all for your input and recommendations!

Congratulations on you new Prius. I actually like the “lower” trim of the Prius. The interior doesn’t have that massive but slow reacting touchscreen. I agree that Toyota toned down the controversial look of this generation. It truly is a perfect commuter car. I’m looking forward to my XL Hybrid when and if it arrives. But if there is any funny business with the delivery . I wouldn’t hesitate getting a Prius or Corolla Hybrid instead.

Priuses and Corolla Hybrids will always be more reliable but they are 3-5k more expensive and only get 9mpg more than the Maverick. Corollas and Priuses also have low front ends and scrape on driveways even when you pull into them slowly. They also have a lower and less comfortable seating position.
What? No! I bought my 3 Touring level Prius in 2017 for just over $26k. It doesn't have any of what you describe. The seats are at the same level as my former Ford Escape and adjust up and down just like the Maverick. I can't say it wouldn't scrape in a steep driveway, but it's never happened to me in either of my Prii. I was a passenger in a Maverick yesterday, and there's no noticeable difference in the height or driving experience.

The Maverick is worth the wait it just need you be patience. The Maverick will be a single vehicle serving double duty while having a Prius and a Tacoma will cost you more money in insurance, maintenance and maybe fuel. The Maverick wont disappoint, it’s better than expected.

No doubt it’s a perfect vehicle for most. My Dad has been wanting a truck but doesn’t want the crappy mileage, so he’s getting rid of his Nissan Versa for a hybrid maverick and I really think it will be perfect for him and his needs. Like I said I need the larger bed and 4x4, and the Prius literally gets right around 4x better mileage than my Tacoma so I think it will be great for everything I don’t need a truck for, and will save me about $450 a month in fuel which is insane.

I have a 2022 Maverick
and
2021 Prius prime

I like both but the Prius is more comfortable and gets a lot better mpg. If I need to carry stuff I bring the Truck if not the Prius. I put 500 miles a week on the Prius and get 130mpg.

I had a Prius C that I passed on to my son who got married - fantastic car - 54 MPG never an issue. I then upgraded my wife to the Lexus UX250H Hybrid crossover. All wheel drive up to 40 mph and around 40 mpg in the city and plenty of zip unlike the Prius. Been a great car. Our seats are almost the same color as the Lariat Mav seats :) New it was around 40K out the door.

I owned a Prius C, LOVED it and it’s 44 mpg avg. I put on 120k in 3 years before it was totaled. Getting the Maverick was a huge sticker shock on mileage, dropping from a 40 mpg vehicle (‘20 Kia Rio) to 25 avg on the Mav. I have a Hybrid XLT on order and if my daughter doesn’t want it, I may sell my current XL and go for a high mileage but not so fun vehicle.

I, uh... find that hard to believe. Someone at work has a Prius and even a casual eyeballing says my Maverick's seats are higher up.

No idea about the riding experience, though I'd certainly hope the Prius rode better. It is a car after all.

I originally ordered my maverick to use as a DD and commuter for my 110 mile round trip commute. It gets way better mileage than my Tacoma which I plan on keeping.
But now after waiting 5 months and still not having a build date I am wondering if I should just get something like a 2017 prius that gets even better mileage and I’ll still have my Tacoma for truck things.
Any of you Prius/maverick owners care to chime in?
The Prius will have a much smoother suspension. It would potentially be a better commuter than the Maverick, but has poor visibility compared to the Maverick.

Same here. I really love driving my Fit but falling into it is starting to get a bit tiring. The firm ride isn't doing my back any favors either
Same reasons for me as my 66 year old bones do not like falling into or pulling up out of my 2015 Honda Fit Ex.

That is why I sold it to Carvanna for $16,523 and bought the 2022 Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid.

I have had my Maverick for almost seven weeks and love the ease in getting into and out of it. The seat comfort and ride is also so much better.

I expect delivery of my Maverick this coming weekend and sold my 2013 Prius Persona today for $15K on Facebook Marketplace. My Ford dealer offered me $8900 and I told them that was an insult. I love that Prius. I will love the Mav as I can easily load my boards, Kayak and bike while getting exceptional gas mileage.

It's up to you really but you def will be far happier w/ that new Maverick truck than an older Prius ..promise that! At least you ordered before they stopped taking orders due to overwhelming response to new Maverick. I have a new Maverick Lariat FX4 & newer '20 Ranger XLT FX4. I use my Maverick as daily driver to keep mis low on my sweet Ranger. If you dont pick up that new Maverick on order the dealer will have no probs selling it. Waiting list at dealers Is long I hear. Best of luck 2ya!
