Been dealing with TPMS error codes from installing Bronco Sport rims. Come to find out the rims I bought didn’t have sensors. I got my sensors out of my steel wheels and all is good. Been getting alerts from Ford Pass that the tires were low. Wondering if I will get alerts when towing if if a tire gets low or if it only alerts when the ignition is on. Would be great if it would.

Did you ever get an answer? Or deflate a tire and see if Fordpass tells you? Interesting question.

You can check your pressure 24/7.

Shouldn't matter if you are towing or not. You should get a message.

But how quickly?
I bet it takes 10 to 30 minutes to get the message to you. So unless it is a sloooow leak how useful is it?

Tracking pressure isn't the issue. Getting an alert or not is the question. I wondered what @Donald found out, if the issue had been determined...wasn't looking for a bet.

But you would be correct, if it took a long time, it wouldn't be useful. Maybe when I get some time, I can deflate a tire and see just how long it takes to get an alert, as Donald describes, with the Maverick's ignition off.

Of course driving it would give you a reasonably quick notice. Towing it behind the motorhome IS the application where the TPMS would be handy if it alerts you by phone in the motorhome with the Maverick OFF...slow leak or fast leak.

I slowly let air out.
I got an alert as soon as it hit 28 lbs. The truck was off and the app was off.

I was just going to post a similar question as we had a blowout on the Mav recently while towing it and found this thread. Thankfully in our case a kind motorist notified us before we damaged the wheel. The thread is a little old now, but curious if anyone has been using the Ford Pass app in practice as a TPMS for the Mav while towing it since Donald found the app reports quickly when a pressure drops below 28psi? I'm especially curious now as I consider investing in a remote TPMS system for towing.

I have still not tested to see if Fordpass will work to alert me for my Maverick Towed. I'm hoping the low pressure alert will appear as quickly as the "deep Sleep" alert pops up, but I don't particularly trust FordPass as completely reliable.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The vehicle locator has certainly proven to be slow to update in some of my testing. But I have some hope for this one, I would not be opposed to keeping the app open and my phone plugged in to keep it charged for this purpose as it would be better than adding another piece of technology to mount/monitor in the coach.

I use a 10 sensor TPMS on the motorhome to check the Mac’s pressures and temps when towing.
