Thank you for sharing this with the MTC community.

It's hard to tell. Can you tell me if the pole holder is offset enough to allow the door on a truck cap to clear?

I have an A.R.E. V-series truck cap and I am not sure if the door would interfere if there was a flag pole in this holder. If so, then I might have to get one.

It's too bad they don't have a mirror-image version so you can have one on either side.
I think the way it bolts together you can just swap sides. The mount should work on either side and the pole holder should be able to bolt on either way. At least from looking at it, that's what it appears to be like. You might need a right angle driver to make it happen though.

I could be wrong of course. The bracket mount is angled to one side so it wouldn't sit exactly the same even if you could make it work.

I so miss the days I could salute, and display our flag without declaring myself loyal to one political party or the other.
Same around here, usually it's an oversized truck with an obnoxiously sized flag, but the giveaway is right next to it & of the same size a flag with wording suggesting some sort of intercourse action to some guy.

I can’t give you an educated answer. Perhaps if you could provide a photo of the cap from th rear, I could hazard an answer. The mount is offset to the right of the edge of the tailgate’s opening by an inch to a inch and a quarter.

Between the bracket’s offset and the alignment of the bolt holes, I don’t believe it could be switched to the left side.

I went out to take the picture and had an "oh my gosh" moment. The truck cap door is the width of the tailgate. Duh! It will work "as is." I feel so dumb.

I will order one to see how it fits on either side before ordering a second one.

Once again, thank you for sharing.

Down here the first flag is just as likely to be the stars and bars.

At least in Virginia people have some respect for flag considering we have Quantico and the Pentagon.
And that little area of Hampton Roads with a few military installations.

I don’t think that living as a transplant in Alabama to be close to the grandkids I will run into the same problem. What is acceptable here at times exceeds my own sense of appropriateness. I am just as likely to fly an Army service flag or one with the Ranger Tab insignia as anything else to avoid political overtones.
No, flying an American flag in Alabama is still accepted. Which is weird in a state that still has the odd rebel flag still flying; sometimes on the same pole....

I'm mildly left the center but definitely moderate ( sometimes feel like I'm on an island...) and I don't understand how the flag became one party's.
Having said that I think the installation looks slick and although I'm not a big flag guy I'd put one in the house but wouldn't put one in my vehicle unless I was in a parade but to each their own

Can anyone post picts of how it installs or directions, wondering how many things I have to remove to get it in there.

There are two items to be unscrewed, a hex-headed (painted blue) bolt showing at the top of the bracket and the long sleeved bolt that serves as the anchor for the tailgate’s latch below it. Hold the bracket in place while replacing the two bolts. Attach the flag holder proper to the bracket with two Allen key-head bolts and you are done!

If I did that in my area my truck would get demolished. I posted the flag a few months ago on my community Facebook page, not only did I get sworn at but the moderator deleted my post saying it was disrespectful.
As someone who was bullied in Middle school for playing, "God Bless the U.S.A." that tracks.
