Plastic parts can be repaired if mirror works and just the plastic 20/30 bucks in material and some spray paint is much better than 1000 dollars. Even if a body shop charges 2/300 bucks still saving a lot. They fix plastic all the timeThere are variations between XLT and Lariat Door mount Mirrors and their prices vary widely. Has anyone purchased a mirror to understand the level of disassembly of the mirror and its constituent parts allow? I have a Lariat and a crack in the very basic element but must buy an integrated assembly part for over $1000 to replace a cracked plastic element I see common on non-Lariat model mirrors. I am wondering if I can remove my mirror and buy the XLT Mirror at the lesser price and disassemble and re-assemble, replacing only the cracked plastic element and be good to go - after a dealer recalibration.![]()
