I thought mine was loud too. The first time I used it I thought it was the engine, not the AC. To me its as loud as the auxiliary electric radiator fan in my motorhome which is good sized.
Yours changes with your fan setting and I have not noticed that on mine. I'll have to pay attention to that the next time I use it.

The hood being up has nothing to do with this. It's up just to frame a picture of where the sound is coming from. The sound comes from under the hood, not the hood hence the hood is up. It's just as loud with the hood closed.

I don't see many Mavericks so I haven't had the opportunity to compare with another truck side by side.

This is a very known and common issue with the hybrid. My truck just had its AC system replaced to try and remedy it, and it didn't work. Service advisor said they thought that might the case but hoped it would resolve the issue anyway.

My bet is on bad fan profiles programmed causing it to ramp the fans unnecessarily. We see it in the IT space.

"...bad fan profiles..."
You think this is the fan? Could be I suppose. The fan is right there where the sound comes from. Fans can make a lot of noise, but I've never heard one make such a gawd awful sound.

We have two fans on the hybrid in that general area. The first thought was that it wasn't a fan and the compressor itself, so they ordered those parts. Then it was thought to be a fan that is a component of the compressor, so they replaced the whole thing.

From troubleshooting on my own and being able to replicate the issue, I feel like this is a software driven issue as it relates to the fan(s) and their programmed fan curve. Or, a massively, huge, completely over the top, design problem with the AC system that is going to slap every Maverick and F-150 these units are on. Yes, this is hitting F-150's as well.

Edit:

Every fan is rated for a specific operating range of RPM. However, you can drive a fan (with bad software) faster than the rated speeds and cause all sorts of noise. I have seen 1900 RPM chassis fans (in the IT space) run at ~3,000 RPM and then disintegrate and throw themselves allllll over the very expensive components in the data center.......

I digress.

Loud electric AC compressors seem to be a problem on quite a few vehicles, including Rivians and Teslas. Seems to be hit and miss whether you get a loud one or not.

Many manufacturers have an insulated boot that fits over the compressor to quiet them down. I don’t know the answer, but it might be worth checking to see if the Lincoln Corsair hybrid has an acoustic boot. If so, it might fit the Maverick since the 2.5 engine and AC compressor are the same. Could help on the worst cases.

The Maverick is at the dealership for an oil change and to investigate the ungodly loud AC. I just received a message from them. The confirm it is the AC compressor making the loud noise. They're going to replace it, but the three part is back ordered. Results of this swap will be a month or so out.

In the meantime here's a comparison clip of my F150 Powerboost with the AC on Max AC. This is quiet, but on the video it seems loud. No one gives me a second glance as I sit in Wawa's parking lot using my electric AC. I get all kinds of WTH looks when I'm in the Maverick.

Hey there! I can take a closer look into your A/C noise concerns if you'd like. Can you send us a direct message with your VIN and the dealership name/location? To send a DM, just click on our username and select "Start Conversation".

Update: took the Maverick to dealer for oil change. They investigated the ungodly loud AC. They said on the service record: "Confirmed concern. Excessive noise present with AC on. A whining/grinding type noise can be heard from AC compressor. No TSB/SSM related. No DTCs related. Checked AC system pressures and refrigerant level using AC machine. All within spec. Suspect compressor internally damaged. Recommend replace compressor as well as expansion valve and desiccant bag."

Parts are back ordered. Was told one month. I'm fine with this as the AC otherwise works just fine. Hopefully a new compressor will will quiet down the devilish compressor I currently have. 🤞

My hybrid's AC is loud. Like really loud. Listen at the link below. I don't know if it's is something in the high voltage and/or the compressor itself. It isn't the cabin fan. Is your hybrid's AC this loud? I have an oil change coming up. I'll be querying the dealer about this. Having some fellow hybrid owners opinions would be helpful. Aside from this loud AC my truck works perfectly...including the AC.

I like my AC ...... It's cool

Yes. Just saying the verb loud is insufficient. It deserves an adverb such as ungodly or even absurdly.
