Still not buying the verbal gymnastics..maybe my 'generation' is not so tolerant with the corruption of meaning...been around the block...been scammed by Ford back in the 70's..selling 70's as 71's...and a host of other marketing scams...at some point you say..enough is enough..say what you mean..sell the product with full clear disclosure of what "First" means..treat your premium payers with some level of respect..but don't word game us into cheap ploys..this is not acceptable..but then I am a simple 7 decade old car buyer...what the hell do I know.

I wrote to my dealer contact yesterday inquiring about my order (9/14/21) to which he responded:

'Unfortunately, there appears to be some commodity restraints at the factory for the first edition packages which is causing a delay in these being scheduled so we will definitely not see it until next year. We do feel it will get built we just aren’t sure on the timing yet. I will continue to check it weekly as Ford schedules production and as soon as it gets a build date, I will let you know. I know this is frustrating, but we appreciate your patience and understanding as Ford continues to work through its product and chip shortages."

I don't know if it's worth explaining things to this guy.

That depends on the value on the backend in 40 years.......if its worth a ton then its an investment
This is a Ford Maverick, not an Aston Martin. Be lucky to get what you paid plus inflation, and that is if someone keeps it babied and doesn’t drive it.

Ok…I was probably wrong… if I have properly digested all the replies my take is if I was Ford..what they meant to say isā€..We are selling a ā€œFirst Editionā€ of a hybrid pickup truck. We are not sure how the market will react but we assure you this edition has some nifty decals and special paint and because of that we will label it ā€˜First editionā€..you may think it is a ā€˜First Edition’ but it is really a ā€˜Send us more money for the decals and we will get to you when we canā€ edition. Just to be clear this is a ā€˜Special Sucker’ edition, but being totally up front…we appreciate you tying up your hard earned money for 6 months or more while we sell a ton of the ā€˜not first edition’ models to customers that were smarter than you.

My suggestion is go over to the Bronco6g forum and look for their 1st addition support group. Those guys over there are all about comforting one anothers FordMoCo traumas.

Yes seriously. Think of it a special 1st year edition. You think paying $1,300 lets you cut in front of a months worth of orders? Seriously? You made a bad assumption, lesson learned, deal with it.
