Tongue weight is 400lbs at the max for the Mav. I was also looking at the replacement of the trailer battery with a Lifepo for weight and more power. The trailer dealer said that the 7 pin connector wont trickle charge the Lifepo. Not sure if he is correct.
It 100% depends on the exact on board battery charger your trailer has.
As of 2025 even cheap entry level $15,000 17 foot campers most often come with dual mode battery chargers for lead and LiFePo. Some may have a switch you set. Many are "Auto Sensing".

There's no reason your truck can't charge a LiFePo so long as you have a dual mode charger. The same applies to when you are on grid power.

Ok Ajax 2026 Hybrid Lariat guy here with the GEO PRO 17LE travel trailer. I did my first long trip 200k one day and 250k the next. All went very smooth. I didn't need tow mirrors for my 7foot wide trailer. The truck will use the side mirror cameras which come on when I signal. I have barely used the trailer hitch assist but it won't work if you have one foot curb on the driveway and not be able to get the truck level before reaching the coupler. The trailer assist is still a learn in process but just need a bit more practice. Looking for trailer camera at the back. Tongue weight is 400lbs at the max for the Mav. Should be able to charge a LiFeP04. I will be replacing my stock battery with a Wattcycle 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 https://a.co/d/02JU1yK3 . Half the weight and twice the capacity. I also bought solar panels.

The camera I have is this https://a.co/d/02JU1yK3 . I just stick it to the rear bumper of my trailer and remove it when I get to my destination.

With a Lariat you can get a Noco Genius 10 amp battery charger and plug it into the bed's 120v outlet to charge the trailer battery as you drive. The charger stays inside the bed, just run the wire on the 12v side under the tailgate and tape it loosely along the trailer's tongue so it doesn't fall off 👍🏻

Had our first camping trip with the Trailer this past weekend! The past few years we have been tent camping and it was time for an upgrade! What an awesome experience it was. We picked a close camp ground for the first trip to make sure everything worked with our new Trailer. It was only 20 minutes from our house but it felt like a different world for 2 days. I always said I wanted a cabin in the woods and now we have a little cabin we can take places! The weather was chilly. It got down to the upper 30s one night and only upper 50s during the day. It also rained for a while. But the heater in the camper worked great and sitting by the fire at night listening to the owls with a full moon was awesome! The kids had a blast. You know its a good trip when they are crying when we had to head home. My wife had a blast and our dog loved exploring everything!

My Maverick handled the trailer (2025 jayco jay flight slx 170bh) without an issue. I would say loaded the trailer was around 3200lbs (empty its 3000lbs). Tongue weight was probably just under 400lbs (empty its 300lbs). It was all back roads to the camp ground with some very steep hills. Max speed on some of the roads I was going 55 (50 speed limit). Averaged around 15mpg. Can't wait for more adventures!

I have a 2024 hybrid. Everything I read says that I could not tow much more than a jet ski.

I could use some insights from people who have hybrids and would like to tow something. Thanks

22-24 Hybrids can only tow 2,000lbs with the tow package. For 2025 the Maverick was refreshed and the hybrid got a lot of improvements. The 25 and newer hybrids can tow 4,000lbs with the tow package.

part of the 4k capability comes from the AWD option added for 25+ models that 24 and older didn't have.

There isn't an actual tow package for the 22 to 24 Maverick hybrid. Just a $100 factory hitch and wiring option.

The 2022-24 Ford Maverick Hybrid has a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds. This capacity applies to the 2.5L Hybrid engine paired with Front-Wheel Drive (FWD). The 4K Tow Package was not available 22-24 for the hybrid model, as it is restricted to the 2.0 EcoBoost.

Depending on who you talk to you will get different opinions on the LiFePO battery charging. I have some experience in this area and here is my opinion. From the truck 7 pin you will probably get some trickle charging, with charge voltage to the trailer LiFePO battery limited by the voltage drop in the wiring. The truck has 10 or 12 AWG wire to the 7 pin and the voltage drop in the wire will probably be the limiting factor before the fuse in the 7 pin battery line. If the truck had larger wiring and fuse the LiFePO battery would probably take more current than the alternator could supply. I don't like this condition since it's not a design controlled charging situation. For my trailer with a 200 AH LiFePO battery I put a 30A DC to DC charger in the trailer and ran separate 6 AWG wiring and connectors from the truck battery to the trailer DC to DC charger. I use the 7 pin battery line which is switched with ignition only for enabling and disabling the DC to DC charger.

Note that the 7 pin battery line is normally connected directly to the trailer battery. There is also a converter in most trailers that will charge the trailer battery when the trailer is plugged into 120V AC shore power. The converter is not powered by the truck 7 pin. Most converters are capable of charging LiFePO and lead acid batteries by switching modes automatically or manually. If you want proper charging of the trailer LiFePO battery while driving down the road you will need a DC to DC charger (or solar panels on the trailer with a solar charge controller).

Ok thanks I think I got most what you are explaining. Not a big electrical guy but I did buy a 2048wh Ankor C2000 gen 2 power station. Since it has a 30amp connector that can connect to the trailer for boon docking. In order not to waste fully charge the trailer battery I need to turn the converter off.
