Falken Wildpeak worth extra cost to order?

So I just got the order in for my '23 with FX4. It will come with the 225/65/r17 Pirelli Scorpion ATR. I had asked for the 235/65/r17 upgrade to Falken Wildpeak, but dealer got confused. Debating if I get with them now to update.

General reviews for the Pirellis tire are mixed. Decent for hard pack dirt, some mud, and street use, but not a great lifespan. Terrible for snow, but I'm in Houston so not really worried.

I have no doubt the Falkens are superior. But at an $800 upgrade, that's not much less than buying a new set outright. Debating now if I should just let it ride and upgrade in a year or two. I can get the bigger tire then, rims should be able to handle it since they are only 1.75% bigger. It's also only a 0.25" lift so may stay same size.

Put those on my Subaru Crosstrek and they are nice tires and I prefer those to the Falken Wildpeak ATW's I have on my Jeep Liberty and had on my RAM 1500 4x4. Those are better off road tires but noisey as all get out and don't handle as well as the Trails

Yeah, I hear you. I have a set of wheels with these tires just waiting for my XL to come. I would say. In Houston, you need a tire that has good wet weather, water clearing. That places has torrential rain and it floods like crazy.

I replaced my Continental tires with Wildpeaks. Definite improvement. Have had on my wife's F150 for awhile now, so had experience with them.

Hello I hope this helps my Maverick came with those crappy Continentals. I hate those tires pure crappy A club member posted a set of falcons 235s take offs from his FX4 400 miles I bought them for $400 drove to Huntsville Alabama to pick them up had a great day with my wife and daughter shopping and eating out and picking up the tires. The lady that cuts my hair has a RAV4 2021 I think and I was talking to her about my tires and she looked at them and asked me if I would sell them to her that Walmart had quoted her a price of like 525 550 for for her RAV4 you don't miss with the lady that cuts your hair she gave me $400 for the tires we went and swapped all the tires and everybody was very happy especially me they basically cost me a trip to Huntsville just a thought for you my friend if you want to kind of look around.

You don't need the Wildpeaks in Houston. Either way, I'd buy aftermarket. The ones that come with the truck likely won't last as long.

Not worth it IMO. Can’t believe Ford is still making you lose the black FX4 wheel to do the 235s as a factory option. Unless you love the wheel they come on, I’d just put 235s or even 245s after the fact. Some Discount Tires might even give you credit for the Pirellis if you do it right away. I swapped them onto my wife’s car and put 235 Toyos on mine right after I got it last year

Did you replace the wheels or just tires? Assume you mean just the tires. That's what I was seeing the Falken Wildpeaks are under $200 per

I read the Pirelli clears water well. Agree on that. Big reason I want AWD and some truck manners for the flooding.

Yeah, but tires are zero sum. So if I replace day 1, I don't get extra life off new set. So even if I keep the stock for a year or two its better than nothing. Mostly want for ranch roads and such, figure Pirelli will do ok for that then upgrade later.

I just replaced the tires since I like the FX4 wheels. I know they can be had for around $700 installed depending on your area and what rebates or sales are on.

I traded in my ATR tires with 5k on them for 200$ and found a rebate along with military discount and got s full set of wildpeak AT Trails(245/65) for 500$ installed.

My ultimate point is that you can get them cheaper or other offerings you may like afterwards and save a few bucks.

The Pirelli Scorpion's are a good tire and they're quiet. I've had no problems driving on wet and snowy roads with my FX4 XLT. When these wear out, I will consider replacing them with the Scorpions again. I've got 13k+ miles on them so far.

I am liking the scorpions better than I thought. They are grippy dry or wet and they run quiet. I am at the point where I may consider buying them again.

The only caveat is that I may decide to go with a 3 peak rated tire instead. But the scorpions are mud and snow rated and honestly that is good enough for 99.9% of the driving I do.
