Assuming this isn't a drive-by thread, that collision repair shop seen more instances than I have. And people on here have admitted to lighting their truck on fire by ignoring all of the warnings on the instrument cluster.

Glad your daughter is okay.

I have had the opposite experience with my Maverick. Brakes have their usual Ford oversensitivity. I've owned Dodge's where you would have to stand on the brake to get it to trigger.
I know Silverado brakes are pretty weak. The two I owned were. Have to push pretty hard to get a decent stop.

We ordered a new Maverick with the Ford Pilot 360 which suppose to brake if senses a collison. Daughter was going 23 mph between city blocks and tried to brake at a red light, the brakes did not work and neither did the Pilot 360. All caught on dash cam. The collison repair shop said, this was second Maverick he had to repair from a collison, the first one slammed into the back of another vehicle. Insurance company still doing test on totaled vehicle, I have filed a report with National Transportation Safety and I don't want another Ford or this one. Don't trust brakes. Anyone else have problems with brakes?
There has to be more to the story here. The only thing I've ever noticed about the brakes is they're overly powerful/sensitive, but that's no longer an issue after some software updates. I don't know if the hybrid and Ecoboost use the same braking system, obviously the hybrid has regen, but beyond that, I don't know if they're the same system.

I've never heard of any issues stopping with the hybrids.

Is this a growing trend? A first time poster comes in noting something horrifically wrong with their Maverick, usually ending with their declaration to get rid of the truck and then are never heard from again.

I drive my two little girls around in this truck, so certainly these sort of issues would give me great pause. But the consistently and similarity really reeks of a concerted effort to spread FUD about this truck. It's just very bizarre.

Until proven otherwise, the only part of this story I believe is the complaint to NHTSA, as shown below.

That could result in the blackbox data getting gathered, I suppose.

Nice sleuth work. Seems like he's been stewing on this for some time (more than 5 weeks). That is plenty of time to pull and upload dashcam footage to MTC with his complaint.

Especially considering the poster says dash cam footage verifies child's story. Then post the footage as part of the original thread. Or post it now that people are asking.

Well, clearly SOMETHING happened. Whether it was as claimed remains to be seen. Sometimes people do one thing while thinking they are doing another. A young, inexperienced driver in a panic situation might make such a mistake.

Until I see even a follow up post from OP I'm going to put this one in the BS department.

I'll transfer it back accordingly if OP comes back through with any evidence.

EDIT: Glad the Maverick did it's job and protected your daughter, regardless of fault.
Keep in mind that sometimes dashcams do not relay the same POV or the fact that someone in the drivers seat simply failed to apply the brakes... Not sure how a dashcam could record something like that unless it was blatantly obvious. Also GPS speed is slow. Even if brakes were applied it would likely still not translate to the GPS speed until it was too late.

I was a teenager once. For far too long. The stories I told after a vehicle incident were not exactly the most honest either. Lots of things could have been avoided.

This thread seems like more of a knee jerk reaction but again, I'm with you and I'll wait to see any actual evidence. But my guess is the "lack of evidence" is the only real evidence here. Like when someone reviews a phone case because it didn't protect the phone from a drop... Just saying.

how is the dash cam going to record the pedals? all they record is what happens outside the vehicle. sounds to me like your kid didnt touch the brake pedal and doesnt want to admit it. brakes are mechanical and just dont fail unless there is physical damage to the system. all maverick have the precollision assist. "ASSIST" doesnt make it a nanny for your kid to not pay attention.

Agree with all you said here.

I'm calling for the dash cam because OP claims it validates his daughter. Still, like you I don't believe the dash cam video would be conclusive one way or the other - that would really only happen with the blackbox/OBD data and a crash investigation of the vehicle to make sure nothing obviously mechanical was to blame.

Just seems like if OP wanted to prove his case here he would have led with the NHSTA # that HRG found and also upload the dash footage.
