Extended warranty price milestones

I know, or I think I know that when you buy an extended warranty but your vehicle is still within 3 years / 36k it is cheapest.

But, I noticed they ask me if my vehicle is within the first 12 months.

I'm going to get an extended warranty, but I don't have a good idea yet of how many miles I will be driving realistically. I bought my Maverick 4 months ago, so I'm trying to figure out if I can wait until month 35 or 35k miles and buy it, if that's going to be more expensive then right now (not talking about the yearly price increases). I'd rather wait as long as possible to figure out how many miles I actually drive a year.

My work moved our office but I don't go in regularly, I go to customers I go to but they are also being shuffled around. So I want as much data as I can have before I guess how many miles to buy. I think it's going to be anywhere from 13k to 20k a year and that makes a big difference in the warranty.

It does not seem like you really get penalized a lot for waiting. Naturally the monthly payment is higher because you have not paid into the plan for the two years you were covered by warranty anyway. At that is how it strikes me. You can go to the Granger warranty site and plug in different numbers of years and miles. You can also enter different vehicle ages to check out total cost differences.

There is not a great chance, but if by chance you have a vehicle that gives you a lot of trouble, you may want to sell it before the three years are up anyway.

I've thought about this. I'll be picking up a 25 Lariat in a few weeks from Granger. I plan on purchasing the 10 yr / 100 K / 0 deduct with lighting adder on the day I get the truck. My reasoning is that waiting doesn't extended the warranty period since it's based on the first day purchase, BUT there's a chance that in a year or two the cost for the warranty will go up (for the identical coverage).

The longer the warranty period I think the better the chance of getting a return on the investment (a replacement alternator for example in year 5 may cost 50% more 5 years later in year 10). My primary goal would be to purchase as soon before any additional price increases come along (service and parts prices don't ever seem to fall.. they just keep going up and up and up).

The only reason that I know of where buying a Ford ESP as soon as possible is cheapest is that most things tend to increase in price as time goes by.

So an ESP that cost X number of dollars today will probably cost more next year or the year after. How much more is anyone's guess.

I've noted that once you go past 100k, there is a significantly larger jump in price. than at the lower levels

The warranty is transferable so if you sell your truck you may recoup some of the cost with a higher selling price.

The price does increase after the first 12 months but the price is negligible. Few hundred penalty.

Ok my Ford dealer extended warranty experience
On my 2021 Bronco sport base I was told it would save me a couple hundred bucks if I bought it when the buggy was new. I waited 34 months and paid $2,400 for a full warranty out to 100,000 miles.
I got back $1,050 after exactly four years when I traded it in for my 2024 Eco Lariat

I purchased the same 100,000 mile warranty for $2,000 at the time I bought the truck.

I saved $400

That’s exactly what I did knowing that in the future any repair parts are gonna be ridiculous and they are raising those agreements very much very soon. I also got my company to buy the maintenance agreement so oil changes and ridiculously new overpriced brake work is gonna be covered as well All those prices are gonna double in the next year or two.

Does that have the time portal button on the infotainment screen or is it a separate button somewhere on the dash? Did transport back to the year 2024 go smoothly?

It goes up the longer you own a vehicle. IIRC, first jump is at 12 months.

Where you buy your Ford Factory extended warranty is as or more important. Check with Granger Motors. They usually have the best prices - much better than at your dealer.

You can compare the various warranties and get what you want. Buy online and Granger adds it to your VIN. Take the truck to any Ford dealer and the warranty will show up in your VIN info in their computers. Dealers do not question where a Ford warranty was purchased from. The warranty is not a 3rd party warranty - it is from Ford.

Ford charges a $100 surcharge when past the 12 month/12000. reason they ask.

yes. It’s powered by shrimp. I am testing the technology in the desert for Ford. Downside is I have to shoo off all the cats that gather around the vehicle when I park it. We’re trying to keep this technology undercover so sshhhhh
