I searched the forums and didn't find anything, so here goes:

I have a 2024 hybrid and tried using the ev coach when I first got it and was confused with the blue and white boxes so I stopped using it.

Since then, I convinced my employer to purchase new Hybrids for our pool cars (2026) and noticed that the EV coach is better now, so I went back and tried my EV coach on my 2024, and now it seems to make sense.

Did Ford update this and did it download as an automatic update? I guess I thought Ford would alert me when it did an update. I'm glad it did the update, if that is what happened, just asking so I understand updates, and the new EV coach.

Thank you.

Joe can you take a picture of the NEW updated EV coach on your 2024 truck and post it please.
Other than the infotainment system.
I do not believe 22 to 24 Ford Mavericks can be up dated over the air.
Ford occasionally pushes mass OTA campaigns for specific module anomalies (such as the widespread Ford Integrated Trailer Module OTA Campaign affecting 2022–2026 Mavericks). However, the years 22-24 lacks a cellular gateway, the fix must be applied manually via a dealer or Ford mobile service.

Just in case you missed it.
The op is referring to "Over The Air" updates

2024's don't support over-the-air updates so, no, they didn't update it.
I think Joe "Cactus Coupe" became familiar with how the new 2026 Mavericks display worked.
That knowledge updated Joe and now his 2024 display makes sense. 😉

Probably.
But my 2022 has had minor display changes over the years. Always by in person dealer updates.

The seatbelt nanny changed (for the worse)

The downgrade assist icon stopped coming on but the feature still works

Lane keep assist messages were absent as delivered from the factory and magically started happening after one of the unrelated "updates".

So while unlikely, it's possible to have an EV coach update.

Compared to the description of the 25/26 version, with things growing from the center outward both sides and smaller - I prefer the pre-25 version.

How does the pre-2025 EV Coach tell you that the truck "wants" to go into Electric or Hybrid mode? The shrinking and growing box on the 2025+ EV Coach gives you a clue that the battery is getting empty or full. Is there a similar indication in the earlier model?

Glen, here you go. I think you are right, now I think it wasn't updated. I don't understand when the white hybrid bar is outside of the of blue electric box?

Thank you for your reply 🤝
Yep, that looks exactly like my 2023. It hasn't been touched by Ford for any updates or recalls.
Begin on electric goes to hybrid and then coasting goes to charge.
As battery power gets used up the blue bar gets smaller.

Oh, I see the blue box now. I'm guessing that grows and shrinks like the box in the 2025+ models?

The white bar is how much "throttle" you are using in that instant.

The blue is how much electric only throttle is available in that instant.

If white longer than blue, the gas engine will be running. Hybrid mode.

Ease off the go pedal until the white is shorter than the blue and the gas engine will shut off. You will run in Electric Mode.

Not really a "wants".

"Able".

If your power need (Go pedal pushed) is below the limit available, EV. If above, Hybrid.

But you see the picture above now.
Combined with the big Power meter to the left, we just know for starters you gotta hold it below 10% for even a chance of EV.

Well, usually.

If the ICE is not warmed up enough that EV is possible yet. If power request is low it may sometimes show that but not allow it anyway due to warmup. Expect that more in the winter cold.
If the power request is so high you just can't see the blue as no where near it.

In this case, your power request is below the 10% limit, but the size of the blue box in relation to the white bar means your HVB was closer to the 30% SOC lower limit, so the ICE is going to run no matter what until you hit 40% SOC.

You could have had the white bar inside the blue box in this case and no EV.

You'll see similar as it gets colder, but with both things longer showing the SOC% could be high enough for EV, but now the ICE is running for the purpose of your heat request on the HVAC.
