But that doesn't work well in practice when you realize a "large" dealer might put in 30 orders per day, while a small dealer might put in 3. If the large dealer put them in in the morning and the small dealer in the afternoon, the small dealer and customer will still be "penalized" due to needing to wait for those large dealer orders to schedule.

I know one local dealer to me cut off their 2023 Maverick "Pre-Orders" at 500. They have 500 ready to go on the day ordering opens..... Do you really want those 500 from that dealer all scheduled before the 3 from the small dealer who entered their orders later in the afternoon, or heaven forbid, on day 2 of orders being open?
Nope I'd be 100% ok with that. Because all the orders from July would schedule before November. Or I'll use my example of October 9th XLT with CP360 being scheduled before late October or November orders.

My God -- 500 pre-orders already and that's just ONE dealer. The 2023 Maverick is already sold out we just don't know it yet.

Well that is what a salesman told someone. Who knows how true it is. They at the very least stopped taking deposits and pre-orders and used that as their reason.

Well TBH any dealer who takes that many orders realistically can't fulfill them. Long-McArthur and @fordvideoguy had I believe about 600 Maverick orders for the 22 model year and looks like they will end up fulfilling about 80 percent. Keep in mind they probably have about the highest Maverick allocation in the country.

Meanwhile my dealer in Pennsylvania probably had about 60 orders and I don't know if they will fill half. I'm most certainly not getting my truck.

A small or medium dealer with 500 orders might not serve all those customers within 5 years at current Maverick production rates!

Can they even take pre-pre-orders with deposits? Ordering hasn't even opened and they are closed? Huh?

That's just one dealer basically not agreeing to place any more orders when the banks open because they already have more than they can fill.

Yeah, pretty much this. If they do in fact have the 500 they say they have (at $100 refundable deposit each), they are probably a bit freaked out at the number already. I would be if I were them.

They are going to have A LOT of pissed off customers without trucks in about 10 months.

My worry is that my oder with a small dealer means I'll be F.O.R.D. Forever On Rollover Delay.
Always order from bigger dealer if you can … even if you have to drive couple hours to it

I'm sticking with the dealer I am most comfortable with both in the ordering process and with their outstanding reputation for customer service if and when any problems arrive. At my age I do not need any more grief and aggravation than is necessary. If this decision costs me getting a Maverick then it simply was not meant to be. There is a seat for every ass and an ass for every seat out there. I am not married to Ford or the Maverick. It is simply something I am interested in and would purchase if the opportunity presents itself, that's all.

I don't understand it but it sounds like the takeaway from this is that if you want a Maverick you should place a dozen orders at different dealerships with a refundable(or no) deposit then see which one comes in first. You could then cancel the orders at the other dealerships. I live in a large city and there must be several dozen Ford dealerships here.

Does anyone know if there is something in the ordering system that prevents this?

If there is something that prevents multiple orders then at the very least I could have my wife order a second Maverick in her name at a different dealership.

There is currently no restriction on multiple orders that we have seen in effect. More than a few folks on here who have announced their second or third maverick has been built or at least scheduled.

Doesn't mean Ford won't come up with a way to discourage or prevent multiple orders from the same customer for 2023 though. Could be as simple as looking for duplicate names during the COVP process (check each calendar days orders against all orders from prior calendar days) and then following up with any possible matches to compare the email or drivers license to see if it is simply someone with the same name versus actually the same person.

I worked in "Identity and Access Management" for a while and we had to clear daily reports where a computer algorithm theorized that multiple unattached records in the system might be the same person. A human would go thru the list each day and either link the records or indicate it was a false match. It would not be hard to have even a Ford intern or two process that type of report each morning. Fast work and easy confirmation or denial when a human takes a look at it.

Last week I got my VIN # & build date for week of September 5th. Today I received a Ford email changing it to week of September 19th.??? Just like that, 2 more weeks without any explanation. Will there be more delays? Plus the time it will take to be delivered to my Wisconsin Dealer!

But then again, maybe I'm ordering one for me, my wife, and our three kids.
