have you had the battery cable overlay done ? long shot, but assuming your vin falls within that issue it could potentially cause some electrical issues.
I've only had the recalls done for small piddley stuff PLUS the side curtain airbags replaced under recall. After the side curtain airbags were replaced the problem started.

No on this one. No recall notice given for my truck.

@EONR24 I don't have the remote start with the key. I do have the Ford Pass app on my phone.

@Criss944 It does go in to full electric mode quite often. Driving slowly, driving in reverse, applying the brakes, it goes into full electric mode seamlessly.

My company is the original owner of this truck. We picked up one of the first available from the dealer when they came out. I drive a lot for my job and need the truck bed for occasionally hauling stuff. My tools go in the cab of the truck with the back seat flipped up. It's been a great little truck. 33 MPG and it seamlessly transitions from electric to gas engine. I really like that the AC stays full blast no matter if I'm stopped at a light, driving on the highway at speed, coasting or slowing with the brakes. I can't stand the auto-off of the newer ICE vehicles that shut off at a red light. With this truck it's a seamless transition from electric to ICE.

This is the problem with the electrical system controlling everything.
I hate that new cars are 'computers on wheels' rather than machines aided by computer components.
Preach it brother. I'm a wannabe Luddite, but what choice do I have these days? I found the Maverick my best choice because most of the tech is optional and the one tech that was not does not work, pre collision assist. :ROFLMAO:

So, it stays running when you take the key out, correct? But it isn't turning off then starting on its own after the key is out, correct? And does the instrument cluster stay lit up like its on? Can you still shift it out of park with it running w/o the key inserted?

My first thought would be a bad ignition switch/lock with a short or switch contacts not always disengaging when turned to the off position and key removed. It could be something else entirely though, but thats where I would start. Next time it happens, maybe tap around the ignition switch after you remove the key and see if it shuts off?

Odd.

Not a designed feature.

A glitch for sure.

Probably software (remote start) related vs. mechanical switch/key related. But for sure have both looked at.

Best of luck and keep us posted.

It occurs to me a hard (forced) reboot may help. Disconnect the battery. Clear the memory, and try again MAY help. 50/50

I may have had this happen last week. I pulled into the driveway and shut off the engine, took the key out, and when I opened the driver's door, the door chime went off as if the key was still in the ignition. I looked at the dash and it looked like the car was still on, but I don't remember clearly what it looked like.

I reflexively treated it like a Windows 95 computer and put the key back in, turned it all the way to start the engine and turned it back off and took the key out. The door chime stopped and the trip summary came up so it shut off that time.

I'll have to pay more attention to see if this happens again.

I had this happen on an old 87 Eldorado, turned out the ignition switch itself was bad and kept the circuit open. Three hours later, after pulling the steering wheel to access and replace the switch, it never did it again. - I'd almost be willing to bet there's an issue with the electrical switch. The key merely unlocks the cylinder to allow it to be turned to the run position, the real connection is the switch.

Egggggggxactly. It is an asinine proposition that this would be an intentional design feature. Key off means engine off - period, end of story. If that doesn't happen, then you have a serious perhaps lethal problem on your hands.

No, the first rule of Hybrid is don't kill people. It is the same rule #1 for every vehicle on the road.
✋ They need to swear it.

Well a small update from the service advisor on Thursday, day 4 of the truck in the shop. He said they think it's a problem with the fuse box and the engine running with no key happened to the mechanic 3x on the same afternoon. They wanted to be sure of the problem before they order parts. So for the time being I'm driving a 2024 Explorer loaner. It's a nice ride, but I still prefer the Maverick.

@The Real Maverick @mjcmtc The instrument cluster behind the steering wheel often stayed on, but sometimes it went out. If I pushed the gas pedal the engine would rev up and stop when I let off the gas. That was one way to test it. No it doesn't shift out of park. Interesting enough the truck automatically shifts into park if I'm stopped and I open the door. I still spin the shift dial to Park when I'm parked but sometimes forget.

@cyberdog - It's a company truck so I don't do much of the maintenance or tinkering myself. If it was my truck, I would be doing a lot of maintenance and possibly tinkering myself. I prefer a simple vehicle, but those days are long gone...

Has anyone else had the engine running on their Maverick Hybrid AFTER turning the ignition off and removing the key? My truck is a 2022 XL Hybrid with 38,398 miles on it. It started happening about 2 weeks ago and was sporadic when it would happen. I made an appointment with the dealer to get it checked out and sure enough, the Friday before bringing it in it happened 5x in the afternoon and when I arrived at the dealer Monday morning.

The way I would shut off the engine is by locking the doors 2x with the fob. I asked the service guy if there was a service bulletin for this issue, prior reports, etc and he said there is nothing reported about the issue. I checked the forum and nobody else has reported a similar issue that I have seen.

Anyone else with a similar issue?

Most of my videos I tried to upload were too large. The video shows the engine running and the key in my hand. Ignition is off, key is out, display is lit up.

@TexasPete550 any chance you can post for Forscan data (especially for the Body Control Module, Battery Control Module, and maybe Power Control Module)? I'd like to do a deep dive and see if there was a programming issue.

To quote myself and update: I believe what I was hearing was the chime to remind me to turn off the lights. If I change the light setting from AUTO to anything else besides off, it will chime when I take the key out and open the driver's door. Turning the ignition to run switched the lights to AUTO again and turning it back off let me leave without triggering the chiming.

Mystery solved for me.

Yup, wait for the "its a new gen / first model year" issues to be expected type of responses.

Some issues sure, issues such as this ? Nope.
Yeah, that's been the consensus.

At first, the word is that "Ford has perfected the hybrid with over 20 years experience with the Escape and Fusion. Heck, even Toyota wanted some of their technology through a patent swap. Rest easy, hybrid buyers, Ford has this..."

Then, when problems manifested:
I bought too early, I was a guinea pig. It is to be expected when being an early adopter.
Mavericks built after May 2022 are fine...
no wait, 2023's are problem-free...
no wait, 2024's are.....
