Egggggggxactly. It is an asinine proposition that this would be an intentional design feature. Key off means engine off - period, end of story. If that doesn't happen, then you have a serious perhaps lethal problem on your hands.

No, the first rule of Hybrid is don't kill people. It is the same rule #1 for every vehicle on the road.
"Sorry Dave, I can't do that."

@Bob The Builder my pre-collision assist works on the Maverick XL. I'm a pretty good driver and don't get cut off much so it doesn't get activated a lot. Sometimes it gives an alert when dirt/dust fly in front of the truck.

For everyone else, my 2022 Maverick XL will have it's fusebox replaced. I don't know which one yet (usually they have 2-3). However the fusebox we need isn't available until the end of May! Back order! If it was longer I would call it an inter-galactic back order. So I've got a brand new 2024 Ford Explorer with now 2,000 miles on it as a loaner. I'll keep driving the loaner until the truck is fixed which should be beginning of June. Thanks to this forum and the interest of Ford Trucks I have received follow up calls from Ford Trucks in Dearborn Michigan to check on me and how the dealer is doing. Sames Ford is the dealer taking care of me and so far they have been great.

If I didn't mention it already I have a no frills Maverick XL Hybrid. No remote fob start (other than with the Ford app) no cruise control, no power seats. Yes to power windows, yes to an AM/FM radio, USB input and more than 1 speaker.

Well my truck is back in my hands! 🍾 Dropped off at the dealer on April 11, 2024. Posted on the forum April 24, and now June 14 my truck is back.

Big thanks to @Ford Motor Company  for offering help on this thread and then calling me almost every week to check progress and report progress from the dealer. They got involved directly with the dealer Sames Ford in Harlingen TX and were able to fix it and get it back to original condition.

What did they do? Glad you asked.

The fuse box (service tech liked to call it a juke box) went bad. I was told it had some burnt wires under it and they also found some other burnt wires somewhere else that connected to the fuse box. Under the hood I was able to find the part that was replaced and I took a picture of it for all of you.

Service tech said they also replaced the BCM and did all updates to be sure it was not update related.

For the simple, some wire connections got too hot and melted or fused open which caused something else to go wrong.

To address all of the comments before the come in, my 2022 Maverick Hybrid acts like a regular ICE vehicle. When the key is removed, the engine stops. That is how it has been for the first 23,829 miles. AC keeps working at a stop light. I don't hear the ICE engine shut off at traffic lights. It's a seamless transition from ICE to electric. The only time I notice what is powering the truck is the engine noise on acceleration and the gauge where most have their RPM gauge. My gauge is a power gauge and goes "negative" when it's using battery power.

💰 How much did the repair cost? Absolutely $0. I was never asked to approve a repair cost and didn't expect to pay for anything either. Thanks Ford Motor Company for fixing your truck.

I prefer my Maverick Hybrid over the 2024 Explorer loaner that I drove for the time that my truck was in the shop. I had to push the button to disable the auto-shut off, and the parking brake came on way too much.

@The Real Maverick @mjcmtc @mde-5062 making sure you see the update.

If I have problems in the future I will be back to update. Hopefully there are no more issues and no crash that sends it to the junkyard.

See yall on the road.

I've only had the recalls done for small piddley stuff PLUS the side curtain airbags replaced under recall. After the side curtain airbags were replaced the problem started.
I know old thread, but this caught my attention.

In another thread someone else had airbag recall done, and a pinched wire that involved radio for TPMS caused issues.
