As of today, October 25, 2022, Ignition keys for 2022 Maverick (without pushbutton start) are unavailable to order. Rotunda, the manufacturer of the Maverick key does not have them in stock. I was informed by several Bay Area California Ford Dealers that it could be two or more years before they may or may not become available to order. After speaking with an associate at FMC Accessories Department, the information was verified. What is the point? DON'T LOSE YOUR KEYS. The danger is when the second key is lost. If you have had this issue, I have found a workaround. Before you lose or damage the last key you have, buy the Keyless Entry Pad for the driver door exterior above the handle, plus the single-button remote start Fob. The cost of programming can be as much as the two items, depending on the dealer.

So Ford just has hope they have enough keys to last the next 2-3 years on hand? Something smells fishy here.

There are mobile locksmiths that might have those types of keys..or install an airtag on your fob(s)

Yeah you can't get OEM from third party, but they got stuff that works. Also clearly Ford doesn't keep years of keys on hand. So either the story is false, or Ford is lining up a different manufacturer. Either way wouldn't sweat it.

I work at a dealership and had a key from a 2018 F150 that was totaled at our bodyshop, when they picked up the truck, they left the second key (bonus) - since mine is push button start, I tried adding to my truck as a third key and IT WORKED - granted, the lockout key isn't correct, but I had a free third key - moral of the story, if you have a push button start, other keys MAY be able to be programmed to your truck!!!

I have a workaround I have implemented yet. It is a Keypad entry combined with a one-button remote start requiring programming for each one. It's not cost-effective due to the programming. I have one key but want a second for backup in case it gets broken or lost. I don't have pushbutton start. Thanks for your recommendation.

I understood the post to be implying that Ford has bought out nearly all future production of keys for the next 18 months +/-. They could just have a contract with such a tall order that it severely limits availability to dealers or other retail customers.

I don't understand the workaround. You still need a key to drive away, otherwise all you would need is Fordpass. So if you loose your 2nd key, you are in the same place you would of been without getting the keypad or remote start fob.

Don't try to make sense of it this whole thread is absurd.

Ford has not allowed the order for this key for over a month now. I already have 6 on order before they stopped taking orders dating back to June.
