Edit: If anyone can answer about the material construction of the 2.5L hybrid engine cover from the Escape, it would be appreciated!

Stumbled upon a video.

The cover appears to be thin plastic backed by a thicker piece of rubberized foam. Given the construction and their use by Ford on more expensive hybrids like the Escape and Lincolns, I'd bet they do a decent job at knocking down sound.

I found a used Escape Hybrid engine cover for a great price.

Should I test it with a dB meter?
