John over at Autoline is reporting that there is an electric Maverick coming 2027.
Now, if they also incorporate a range extender motor/generator (pure electric drive, genny-motor charges the battery only), they would be making my perfect small truck for long distances and extremely cold winters!

Something to definitely look forward to seeing in the near future.

Thanks for posting the video and now only time will tell if they make it or not,

Andy

I looked back to see the date on that video and it was 5 months ago. I think Jim has recently been talking that the 2027 truck will be a midsize truck and sounded like it will come in variants. Now I think this report by John may have been premature. I guess we will see.

2025 WAS the mid cycle refresh which means the C2 architecture will live on through 2028. It is THAT simple.

The C2 platform is NOT EV ready, and Ford is losing their ass on the Mach E. Trying to use that platform for an “Mav E” at a lower price point makes no sense at all.

Especially because there are no more EV incentives.

The best you will ever see on the current C2 platform is a PHEV. Hard stop.

I freaking hate this , all this rumors after rumors and rumors saying that the previous rumors this and that, I'm waiting for an ev maverick and would really love to know if is true or not, but with the new administration taking ev's down or at least messing with everything electric is hard to know, If
They get me a 300 miles range EV is more than enough for me, I barely go more than 10-25 miles away from home, so a small battery and a extended one as option would be great imho.

Note, I didn't saw the video, just came here for the comments to see if there was any weight to it, but looks like no luck yet.

Well John over at Autoline is full of fucking shit.

Actually, the EV incentives are still alive and well. The federal incentives (tax credits) are set to end on September 30. The Auto makers are screaming at you know who to keep them in place. Then there are state incentives. My neck of the woods, Oregon, has up to $7500 REBATES on new EV's and up to $5000 rebates on used EV's, depending on your income. And since Ford already builds a plug in hybrid Escape with a 37 mile EV range it should be quite easy to put a Maverick body on that.

Mach E sits on GE1 which is a modified version of C2....However, with that said, it will likely by on CE1 chassis which is coming out of the Ford skunkworks program.....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_GE1_platform

The Global Electrified 1 (GE1) platform is an electric vehicle platform developed by Ford under its dedicated global battery electric vehicle team named Team Edison. It is a heavily modified version of the C2 platform.

Thanks for proving my point. Given the current admin - a 2027 EV will have no federal incentives.

Happy for you and the good folks in Oregon. I hope it lasts.

As I stated in my original post - best bet is a PHEV - which is a far cry from a full on EV

Correct BUT - Mav is the entry level lower priced truck. Ford isn’t going to offer an EV for $40k when they are losing their ass on the same platform for $55k.

The market has totally tanked for F150 lightnings.

I promise you an Mav E is at minimum 5 years away if never.

No one knows what the current admin. will do tomorrow. Forget about 2027. And definitely PHEV is the best bet, and almost guaranteed.

I won't hold my breath. I think a PHEV is far more likely.

EVs don't need subsidies. If they can't be marketable on their own, they don't deserve to exist. Plus, I'm almost willing to bet the moment the EV subsidies go away many of the EVs will amazingly get a $7,000 price cut.

Oh good just when I thought Ford realized a 5billion a year loss was a bad idea.

MY2028 would be in line for a new version...which they would start producing in late 2027. That would be the limit of the benefit of the doubt I would give.

Otherwise, the video prediction sounds a lot like those videos that said "Nick Saban will retire this year" every year for 17 years. Eventually, someone was proven right even if they had no reason to know they were right.

I can't imagine we'll see a PHEV Maverick due to the increased weight the battery will bring, thus limiting the payload and towing abilities.

The hybrid Mav is already so cost effective to own, at $0.08/mile operating cost in gas, that I just don't see the PHEV version being that great of an idea.

Pure EV maybe in a few years when the battery tech really matures and prices drop considerably.
