Now, if they also incorporate a range extender motor/generator (pure electric drive, genny-motor charges the battery only), they would be making my perfect small truck for long distances and extremely cold winters!John over at Autoline is reporting that there is an electric Maverick coming 2027.
I looked back to see the date on that video and it was 5 months ago. I think Jim has recently been talking that the 2027 truck will be a midsize truck and sounded like it will come in variants. Now I think this report by John may have been premature. I guess we will see. Now, if they also incorporate a range extender motor/generator (pure electric drive, genny-motor charges the battery only), they would be making my perfect small truck for long distances and extremely cold winters!
Something to definitely look forward to seeing in the near future.
Thanks for posting the video and now only time will tell if they make it or not,
Andy
Actually, the EV incentives are still alive and well. The federal incentives (tax credits) are set to end on September 30. The Auto makers are screaming at you know who to keep them in place. Then there are state incentives. My neck of the woods, Oregon, has up to $7500 REBATES on new EV's and up to $5000 rebates on used EV's, depending on your income. And since Ford already builds a plug in hybrid Escape with a 37 mile EV range it should be quite easy to put a Maverick body on that.Well John over at Autoline is full of fucking shit.
2025 WAS the mid cycle refresh which means the C2 architecture will live on through 2028. It is THAT simple.
The C2 platform is NOT EV ready, and Ford is losing their ass on the Mach E. Trying to use that platform for an “Mav E” at a lower price point makes no sense at all.
Especially because there are no more EV incentives.
The best you will ever see on the current C2 platform is a PHEV. Hard stop.
Mach E sits on GE1 which is a modified version of C2....However, with that said, it will likely by on CE1 chassis which is coming out of the Ford skunkworks program.........The C2 platform is NOT EV ready, and Ford is losing their ass on the Mach E.
The Global Electrified 1 (GE1) platform is an electric vehicle platform developed by Ford under its dedicated global battery electric vehicle team named Team Edison. It is a heavily modified version of the C2 platform.
Thanks for proving my point. Given the current admin - a 2027 EV will have no federal incentives.Actually, the EV incentives are still alive and well. Correct BUT - Mav is the entry level lower priced truck. Ford isn’t going to offer an EV for $40k when they are losing their ass on the same platform for $55k.Mach E sits on GE1 which is a modified version of C2....However, with that said, it will likely by on CE1 chassis which is coming out of the Ford skunkworks program.....

No one knows what the current admin. will do tomorrow. Forget about 2027. And definitely PHEV is the best bet, and almost guaranteed. Thanks for proving my point. Given the current admin - a 2027 EV will have no federal incentives.
Happy for you and the good folks in Oregon. I hope it lasts.
As I stated in my original post - best bet is a PHEV - which is a far cry from a full on EV
MY2028 would be in line for a new version...which they would start producing in late 2027. That would be the limit of the benefit of the doubt I would give.Well John over at Autoline is full of fucking shit.
