I am looking for a bed cover for my Maverick which will be here maybe this week.

My hard cover on my previous Colorado could be opened from either end and folded up. I can't find a Maverick cover that does this.

My wife and I own a shaved ice trailer and I carry a 4500 watt generator in the truck bed full time. At events the generator stays and runs in the truck bed (it is far to heavy to drag in and out-especially when I am not there to help her) and in the Colorado I flipped the cover completely up and there was plenty of airflow.

The Gator SFX and other covers I see advertised as tri-fold are actually bi-fold as they don't flip completely up and uncover the entire bed from what I have seen-am I correct?

It is looking like either a soft or hard roll up is going to be the only way to completely open the bed up so I can run the generator without worrying about the heat messing up the 1/3 of the cover that won't raise. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

The factory Rev/Bak tri-fold (as is the case with other brands) can be completely folded up, if you don't mind it blocking the view out the rear window.

One other possibility is installing a sliding bed tray (slide on its own rails) that you could pull out onto or beyond the tailgate so the airflow around the generator in more open.

Don't believe this linked site currently has one for the Maverick, but if you're curious about what those are, see here. Other sliding platform manufacturers may already offer unites if Maverick size, or may have plans to do so in the near future.

Here's a link to the Undercover Armor Flex hard top trifold tonneau cover I have. I absolutely love it!!Armor Flex Tonneau Cover
That looks like a great cover! Mine came with a cover but the spring loaded latches at the tailgate are very difficult for me to release and lock. How does this cover lock down at the tailgate? I wasn’t able to really see the latch in the pictures. Thanks!

when the tailgate is closed, the cover is locked into place. No key is needed to lock/unlock the cover, which is very nice!

When you shut the panels it automatically locking slam latches, you don't have to manually latch it. There is a metal wire that you pull to unlatch each panel. This model also allows you too close it with the tailgate up or down. You can also close the close the tailgate with it down.

It's definitely a nice tonneau cover.

@belmor Here is a picture of the Undercover Flex . Not the same is the Amour Flex, just a little less pricy. :) It also doesn't lean up against the cab of the truck, so you don't have to worry about it banging or potentially scratching. You can drive with it in this position too.

It’s still in my garage in the box, but I got an extang Xceed that folds up like this as well, and the opening latch is part of what attracted me to it. It’s a single turn switch/latch. (I have a gator SFX on the truck currently)

Thank you all, at least there are some options out there it seems. I was hoping one of the less expensive soft covers would have this feature but knew it was probably me being too optimistic lol.

From shopping around, most hard cover trifold tonneau covers are $1K and up. I like the fact that mine is very sturdy and everything I keep in my bed is secure. Mine also is leakproof. I personally don’t like soft top covers as they never fit right and are very hard to snap in place. Most have a problem with water leakage. But, the most important aspect is that anyone at anytime can unbutton the top or can slice through it with a knife and steal what’s in your bed very easily.

Just ordered the bakflip MX4. Tried ordering one from the dealer back in early December. Still nothing. Tried to get the undercover one. Got a reply back from the company selling them saying those are a custom order due to COVID and will take 4-6 weeks :(. Sucks being in Canada trying to get parts.

Funny you post this I just ordered the tri-fold tonneau cover exactly 2 hours ago. From Ford's website.

Thanks for the post. I think I’m going with this one. They have a local truck supply store where I can get one locally.

I ended up ordering a Truxedo soft roll up for now. I only keep an aging generator and roll of power cord in there-nothing else. I love the hard covers but didn't want to spend 1K plus on one right now.

Caught the roll up on sale for $289 with free shipping. I figure in a year or two I can pick up a lightly used hard cover for about half price and swap it out then.

Unless something changes this is the one I am getting. Does it lock with the first section folded up? Any downside?

OP, I see you decided on a roll up. That will do just fine. Hope you get the upgrade you want down the road.
