Dumb question about tri-fold covers.

Unless something changes this is the one I am getting. Does it lock with the first section folded up? Any downside?

OP, I see you decided on a roll up. That will do just fine. Hope you get the upgrade you want down the road.

Yes all the sections have slam latches. One you open the 2nd latch there is a tie down for each side to lock in and this gives you 2/3 of your bed. If you want the full bed you just left it upright and use the prop rods. I’ve yet to find a downside. Seem to do well with holding out water. If I use a pressure washer right on the tailgate seal it will leak, but with just rainfall it does great.

But to answers your question you can open the first section and drive with it like that with no issue.
