I have a 24 Eco FX4

I have been tracking my MPG on each tank of gas since I purchased the MAV. I typically get around 28.something MPG on a tank.

I filled up with HEB gas this last time and the truck is 24.2 MPG. Such a big drop in gas mileage.

Wonder if it's just bad gas?

HEB does not sell top tier gas. Personally, I wouldn"t use it.

Go to Sam's or Walmart. They sell top-tier from Murphy Oil. Costco is also top-tier. Both very competitive prices. I always go to these sources when I winter in the RGV.

Change to summer blend. Only got E85 from HEB for the last two trucks before Maverick.

I try to use only top tier gas as you can be more assured that the octane is what is advertised. I also try to avoid the stations that don't do much business as fuel starts going bad right at birth (some faster than other). You may want to use some Gumout for DI just in case it clogged your injectors.

I live about 45 minutes from the Walmart home office. The gas they sell here is not Top Tier, according to https://stationfinder.toptiergas.com/
It is also not labeled as such on their pumps. Most TopTier stations have a sticker on their pumps.

Drove xcountry (Atlanta to Pacific Ocean) this summer and definitely got better MPG as I got further west. Pretty sure it was gasoline quality difference. Mostly buy Costco gas with 87 Octane but add 1 or 2 gallons of 91 octane to raise the octane. Hybrid consistently gets 42-46 MPG. Slightly Highter octane defiantly raises my MPG. When used, Cruise Control always improves my mpg.

Three tanks of gas in any vehicle one right after the other on a trip will generally improve milage particularly if you regularly make only short trips.

Octane doesn't change your mileage. The blend of ethanol might. Different places have different blends. Top tier gas doesn't have more energy per gallon.

When I got my Hybrid I went to Costco every fill up. Mileage was great. I wasn't able to get to a Costco and went to a BP. The mileage tanked, I only ever get Costco gas now.
