Ok nice to here it's not my imagination. Yesterday I had the keys on me and as soon as I grabbed the drivers door handle it locked but opened about a half inch. The back door was unlocked????
Mine is only the drivers door locking.
So why wouldn't that be a possible cause? I have my Maverick setup to only unlock the driver's door when I turn off the ignition so I wouldn't know otherwise but I still think this is more user error combined with poor ergonomic design by Ford.
Agree with your assessment, poor design and I have to be aware when existing the truck.
Because when you leave out of the driver's side door and use the door handle to open the door you're brushing against the lock when you pull the handle and locking it. To clarify I'm not saying you're hitting the power door lock button, I'm saying you're hitting the actual door lock which is right next to/above the pull handle for the door as you can see in the photo above. It's a terrible design by Ford and seemingly anyone with larger size hands will have the same problem.
Yep, ive done this many times and finally realized what happened. I keep just a door key hidden under my vehicles and a spare ignition key well hidden in all my vehicles. Have never lost my keys but just never want to be in that situation.
