I do leave my keys in the truck while I run in and grab my coffee to return to a locked driver door. I haven’t caught myself doing it, but I am sure I am accidentally hitting that manual lock button. But that was why I spent the extra to have the keypad installed.

Yes, I had the same. Only the drivers door locked. Uńortunately, I hadn’t unlocked all the doors yet. So when it locked the drivers door, that was it. I will make a video today and separately I sent a direct message to Ford.
Mav....that IS the issue. You've got it backwards. The 'Manual" button on the door ONLY locks the door you push it on. Driver's side front door for most of these "door locking on me" posts....... as it is only you by yourself at the time. The "Auto" lock/unlock buttons....the ones with the symbols....lock and unlock ALL the doors. You are not the first or the last that will do it. It is USER ERROR. The truck is doing exactly what it is supposed to do.
I stand corrected. There are two ways to lock and unlock the doors 3.25 inches apart. Terrible design. Thank you for your patient explanation.

Unless somebody can post a honest video showing that it auto locks by itself. I have to believe it's driver error.
If you have or can make a video showing the Maverick Auto locking with the fob inside please post it.
You are correct! From someone who just 1 hour ago didn’t understand.

If you want you can use my 7sec. video. I made months ago.
Showing how easy it is to mistakenly lock the door while pushing it open.

Test engineer for Whirlpool Corp in Benton Harbor MI for 20 years.

I tested it in my driveway one Saturday 5 runs and it locked 3 times.
Rode around the block removed the keys and put them on the hood. Confirmed the door wasn't manually locked. Waited an hour.
3 Out of 5 times the drivers door only locked. Once it locked as I was approaching the vehicle after the hour wait.

I had a keypad installed and have used it a couple of times.

MY and trim level please, didn't notice it in your profile vehicle description.

With other relays going off - sure it was the lock mechanism?

Obviously a fault is possible, but it's been proven so far to not be an automatic or setting thing.

As it says it seems to be an ongoing issue. All the other doors don't lock just the drivers. This morning I drove to the lumber yard, grabbed my keys to unlock and turn on the lights. Maybe 3-4 minutes total and the drivers door was locked when i came back out???? THe dealer has no clue.
I have had the same problem. I get out of the truck with FOB in my pocket and noticed the drivers side door being locked on my return. Very Strange.

Jetlat....It doesn't matter if you have the FOB or not. You can leave it in the truck or take it with you. The issue is people are hitting the manual lock pushing the door open to get out of the truck. Has nothing to do with the FOB location.

Perchance have you noticed any battery saver changes kicking in - like inside lights turn off quicker when door closes.

You have keyless entry on Lariat, correct?

Do you touch the door handle when closing door?

USING KEYLESS ENTRY

Unlocking the Doors
Ford Maverick Driver's door locking on its own VID20240807094852

With your passive key within 3 ft (1 m) of your vehicle, touch the unlock sensor on the back of the door handle for a brief period and then pull on the door handle to unlock, being careful not to touch the lock sensor at the same time or pull on the door handle too quickly. The intelligent access system requires a brief delay to authenticate your intelligent access key.
Locking the Doors
Ford Maverick Driver's door locking on its own VID20240807094852

With your passive key within 3 ft (1 m) of your vehicle, touch the outer door handle lock sensor for approximately one second to lock, being careful not to touch the unlock sensor on the back of the door handle at the same time. After locking, you can immediately pull on the door handle to confirm locking occurred without inadvertently unlocking.

Seems the potential to lock all doors with fob inside for keyless entry systems gets the same response as non-keyless entry with key in ignition.
Failsafe says no and unlocks all doors. Difference is non also gets horn honk.
I find nothing in manual regarding auto-lock except above post about keyless entry locking on exit.

KEYLESS ENTRY – FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why does the keyless entry system not function? If the system does not function it may be limited. See Keyless Entry Limitations. If the system still does not function use the remote control or the key blade to lock and unlock your vehicle. Why can I not lock my vehicle? If you electronically lock your vehicle with a rear door or the tailgate open, the system searches for a passive key inside your vehicle after you close the last door. If the system detects a key, all doors unlock indicating that a key is inside. Your vehicle locks if another passive key is within the detection range after you close the last door.

Considering this little fact in different place though - what if fob hasn't moved and stopped sending out active signal?
REMOTE CONTROL LIMITATIONS
Make sure a valid remote control is within 3 ft (1 m) from the front door handles and rear of vehicle.
The system may not function if:
  • The remote control remains stationary for about a minute.
  • The vehicle battery has no charge.
  • The remote control battery has no charge.
  • There is interference causing issues with the remote control frequencies.
  • The remote control is too close to metal objects or electronic devices, for example keys or a cell phone.

we should have a sticky for this issue, until someone proves it otherwise.
