Love the carbonized gray codgers 🤣

Rickey Racer in a man bun pulled up next to me in a Tacoma. He pointed and laughed, he gunned it, I gunned it and flipped him off and left him in the dust. Man that felt good.
I'm at the age where if you can't be part of the solution have fun being part of the problem.

I am 6 months shy of being 60 years old. My lower back is worn out, my memory is tested daily due to the consumption of social beverages early in life, my wallet is always empty because I stimulate the economy on a daily basis, and I have more hair then my high school classmates had then and now, and if Lynda Carter (the original TV Wonder Woman) would step into my house I would start to feel dizzy and drool. And everything you heard about your body after 50 years old is true, the window for breakdown starts at 51 and continues to remind you every time you change oil on your car, and the kids cars and the wifes car and at that moment of getting up off the mechanics creeper. And lastly, to have had many classic Mustangs that I restored and have gotten the thumbs up driving down the streets, I can say without a doubt, I too saw this truck developing and said to myself, finally, Ford is making a 4 door Ranchero. Yes, us old dudes still can get excited over things and this little truck has done it for me. And the thumbs up from those seeing going down the road, it is just plain freakin' cool to me as well. So, everyone that is waiting for their Maverick to arrive, keep the focus, it is worth the wait. No matter what age you are.
Yeah, Lynda Carter was... and still is da bomb.

Wow, this was one of the best "battle of the ages" threads I have seen on MTC. I'm 60 and I have been clamoring for something like this truck for a long time. I always thought Honda missed an opportunity to make the Element a small pick up. Instead they went with the CRV,HRV and sold hundreds of thousands of them. I guess we will never know what would have sold better. Ford took a chance and I think this vehicle is going to crush the market like the Explorer did so many years ago.

BOOMERS Rock On!
I've been trying to find a good element for years, people just don't sell them much and if they do they have like 200k miles on them and want 12k. I've often thought about knocking on peoples doors and asking if they were interested in selling theirs. Of course I want the one without the plastic fenders and AWD, those seem to the rarest.

My sis got mine... and some dickless ahole swiped the catalytic converter... she had no choice but to sink $4k into a new one. The new Mav is way better than the old Ellie.

Speaking of age, aren't most millennials approaching mid-life crisis age getting immobilized because they laid on their pillow wrong by now? Hardly youngsters anymore.
It's like you know my life.... what is sleep?

Just in case you were wondering about generation definitions... Copied from somewhere..

The breakdown by age looks like this:

  • Baby Boomers: Baby boomers were born between 1946 and 1964. They're currently between 57-75 years old (71.6 million in the U.S.)
  • Gen X: Gen X was born between 1965 and 1979/80 and is currently between 41-56 years old (65.2 million people in the U.S.)
  • Gen Y: Gen Y, or Millennials, were born between 1981 and 1994/6. They are currently between 25 and 40 years old (72.1 million in the U.S.)
    • Gen Y.1 = 25-29 years old (around 31 million people in the U.S.)
    • Gen Y.2 = 29-39 (around 42 million people in the U.S.)
  • Gen Z: Gen Z is the newest generation, born between 1997 and 2012. They are currently between 9 and 24 years old (nearly 68 million in the U.S.)
  • Gen A: Generation Alpha starts with children born in 2012 and will continue at least through 2025, maybe later (approximately 48 million people in the U.S.)

The term ā€œMillennialā€ has become the popular way to reference both segments of Gen Y (more on Y.1 and Y.2 below).

Sometimes labeled with the moniker ā€œZillennialsā€, those wedged at the tail end of Millennials and the start of Gen Z are sometimes labeled with this moniker — a group made up of people born between 1994 and the year 2000.

Originally, the name Generation Z was a placeholder for the youngest people on the planet — although Generation A has now taken over that distinction. However, in the same way that Gen Y morphed into Millennials, there is certainly a possibility that both Gen Z and Gen A may adopt new names as they leave adolescence and mature into their adult identities. While the label Gen A makes discussion easier, it may not be the last word on this group of humans.

$4K for a catalyetic converter? Damn that's pricey. My 2008 HHR needed a new converter, I was able to buy the whole head pipe , converter and all flange to flange ready to bolt in for about $200. Put it on in my driveway in 1 hour in an afternoon.

I know Ford designed and marketed this vehicle for millennials, guys with hair buns and hipsters. Nevertheless, this is our truck. It is probably the most functional vehicle ever made and we old dudes figured this out when it was launched. It is the truck equivalent of a bucket hat, belt with a hidden money spot sewn in, belly pack and trousers that let you remove the legs with a zipper! Stop defending it when people dismiss it as a "trucklette" or call it "cute." You are only driving up the price and making it harder to get.

Hats off to you!!! I ordered the same except EB for my dad to switch from F150 and he celebrates 85 in two weeks. Sadly we have had zero news on our order which was placed in August

Got you all beat, I'm 84, but wish I could turn the clock back a few years LOL! Ordered Mavrick, Hybrid 7/26/21, Lariat, RR, First Edition, Lux Pkg, CoPilot 360. Received Vin & build date week of May 9th, last week Ford bumped it back to week of 5/16. Hopefully the last delay. I don't have that many years left - Want to enjoy the truck.

I am 66, drive a hybrid XL base, Oxford white, drive a Harley Police bike, and sail a 32' sailboat. The Maverick to me is what the Ranger should have been and I consider myself lucky to have one. I don't consider myself old, but there are times I feel it. Someone once said, 60 is the new 40. This is a truck (not a car) for everyone regardless of age.
