Does the hybrid battery hold charge after I shut off the engine?

You may be right since it's only 400 watts. I'm pretty sure the 1500 watt outlets on my Toyota Sienna are powered by the HVB.
Semantics.

220v is stepped down to 14.7 volts then the 14.7 volts feeds the inverter.

If you could run the inverter with the key off, you could say it was running at that time from the 12 volt battery. Since you can't (that I'm aware of) you are kinda running it from the HV battery. So both "perspectives" can be correct.

I guess the real test would be to remove the 12v battery from the equation (if you even can, will the truck stay in ready mode without the 12v connected?). If the outlets still work, the HVB is powering them, if they don't, the 12v is powering them.

Sigh.....😩

I explained what's going on.

Let me clarify.

The 12 volt under seat battery is NOT powering the inverter directly. But low (12-15v) voltage is. This is probably due to the assumed relative safety of running high current but low voltage wires around your truck vs. high voltage low current wire around your truck.

True but they program the circuitry to show the user that 20% is "zero" and 80% is "100%".
(I'm making up numbers though!)

I wish there was easier to see screen or whatever to see what the battery level is. So people could plan better.
Yes, we need an app. like Leafspy that was developed for the Nissan Leaf to do exactly that. It monitors all aspects of the charge and storage system. Wonder if they have something similar for the Prius or other Ford hybrid’s?

As does F-150 Powerboost's (hybrid) Pro Power Onboard. F-150 ICE uses 2 12V batteries to supply 24V and a second alternator. Powerboost also gets 2.4 kW and 7.2 kW options, which are 6-18x that of Maverick's.

Maverick's 400W inverter is small enough that a conventional 12V unit is used. Also keeps it the same between Hybrid and EB to keep costs down, while sacrificing efficiency..

The Ford Cmax Hybrid has a nice traction battery monitor icon. Don’t know why the engineers decided not to make this icon available to display on the Mav Hybrid XLT.

They had the engineers wearing their KICS (Keep It Cheap S*) hats on instead of the KISS hats.

So what you're saying is.... technically then it's a gasoline-powered inverter, gotcha.

Technically, the whole vehicle is gas-powered, since that's the only energy source you can directly put into it, so...

Say my hybrid battery has a 40% charge and I leave it parked and off for an hour. What percentage of charge will remain when started back up? Or after a few hours? Or overnight? Or a weekend?
where do you see that you have 40% left?

Yes! I'd like a battery charge level gauge

You can buy one that does a hundred things if you are into that, or you can buy a wireless bluetooth OBDII interface to read the information on your phone.

Either case, you need to buy something that plugs into the OBDII port.

Ones with a screen cost more, but you plug it in and it works. Ones where you bring your own phone cost less because you bring your own screen, but you need a bit more technical expertise to get it all connected.

Small company.
Nice people.
Very helpful. Great customer service here:

Yes - it holds a charge. In fact - almost all the charge you had will still be there for when you return after such a short time.

What you're asking about is called the "self-discharge" rate of the battery chemistry. It looks like lithium ion would lose about 5% of its charge in a month of not being used. So if you leave the hybrid for 30 days at 40% charge, it might be down to 38% charge (95% of 40%) give or take a bit.

If you leave your vehicle in very hot or very cold weather you may experience poorer battery performance including faster self discharge.

Also - the 12 volt battery uses a different chemistry and may discharge faster if you don't drive your truck for a while. The 12v battery powers almost everything other than the wheels (...and maybe the a/c compressor?? - anyone?).
way to drop that science :)
