Does the 12v (cig lighter) ever turn off?

Just got my 23 Maverick XLT lux. I have my dash cam plugged into the 12 volt socket. And I'm noticing the light on the adapter seems to always be on. Is there a way to turn off this power when the key is off?

From what I can tell, mine is still on after an hour, but maybe if I lock the doors with the fob it will change.

Mine shuts off instantly after turning off the Maverick (Hybrid) and removing the key and opening the driver's door.

There must be some setting that allows this instant off as others like yourself state that it remains on for 90 minutes or more.

Check for a radio/display setting that shuts off the radio/display when the driver door opens as the radio seems to be powered along with the 12 volt socket.

Your voltmeter showing 12.1 V with the key off might have something to do with that.

I have left it plugged in and have not yet had a problem. As others have said, the socket does seem to turn off at some point. Definitely not immediately... or after 15 minutes. But probably close to 90.

Why does that even matter?

The 12.1 volts is the actual voltage of the battery at time of vehicle shutdown. When charging it shows 14.6 volts. If I take a lot of short trips like 1 mile here and there the battery voltage does come down.

That said I have seen higher voltages like 12.6, 12.5, 12.4 etc and every single time the radio/center console and 12v outlet shuts off as soon as the driver door opens. So that seems to disqualify your statement about the 12.1 volt battery voltage.

Seems like there is only one Maverick that shuts off power when opening the door! Lol

Only thing that shuts off (after turning the truck off) when opening the door is the infotainment and drive info screen. 12v stays hot. Might have to dig into the manual and see if indeed there is a setting. I always lock the truck if I'm leaving it, so leaving it unlocked has nothing to do with it.

Super old topic. But the first week my 12V would switch off after opening the door. However after driving for 100 miles or so. It no longer shutoff after opening the door. Reading the comments here, I suspect the first week the battery might be under the cutoff so it will turn it off. Now that the battery is fully charged, it will stay on until 30-45mins.
