Nope, it definitely does not suck and I like it.
I wouldn't object if the detents were just a bit firmer but then it would be harder to spin/flick from park to drive or vice versa.

I wasn't a fan before buying it, but it wasn't a deal breaker. After getting the truck It is totally fine, I enjoy it. Much better IMO than the trend towards buttons for the gears in other hybrids and electrics. And lightyears ahead of the old truck shifters on the steering column--I'd take the rotary shifter any day over that thing.

Love it. Much better than the column shifter on my Sport trac

I like it. The resistance and indents are perfect. The only drawback is that I have to be conscious of direction. I intuitively find myself turning it counter clockwise.

But for me, chewing gum and walking has it’s challenges.

I don't have an issue with it. There are several threads already on this issue. Just a guess some don't like change, even if it's good. The author of the article even states he only drove a Maverick for 600 miles. Just a guess but doubt if he even tried to get use to it.

Two things I like not having it on the steering column and I like that it's not sticking up in the center console. That being said I miss a split bench seat more than anything. It was nice having the option to have her sit by me, or in her own space.

All in all I like or don't have an issue with the rotary shifter.
I know what you mean. Miss the bench/split bench type seats.

This seems like it should be your jam.

Good Tune! Used a pillow in my 1966 Mustang Cope, so my Sweetie could sit next to me, while out on a drive.

Not one single issue with it whatsoever.

I like it. Feels much better then column shifter. Plus lot easier to repair then taking apart steering column to do repairs ....

I really am not a fan of the rotary shifter. In fact, the first time I drove a Maverick, with the salesman sitting next to me, I grabbed the lever on the steering column and turned on the windshield washer. We had a good laugh.
The climate control things are the same shape and sort of close to the shifter. I guess Ford saved money using it and that's probably why it's there.

needs firmer indents and limits at park and low as several have said.
Isn't there a thread on here where someone replaced theirs with a stick from a escape or something?

The mechanical push button shifter in my 1963 Chrysler Newport was the greatest invention ever!

Rotary shifter sucks

I'm not a fan of the rotary shifter, are you?
I did not like it at first but do now. It took awhile to learn that it automatically goes into park when you turn off the key, I like that too. I also like the open ended door handles that are so easy to use.
