Cheaply priced and cheaply made. I guess we get what we pay for. I may keep my 2017 Frontier and hold off a while. It's built like a tank next to the Maverick. These quality defects are inexcusable.
What don’t you like about your Maverick? I don’t have one complaint or issue with mine that required a public notification. Have any pictures of your issues?

The "weld" under the rear window is not a weld. We've determined it's a bit of excess seam sealer that bled out before paint. The outgassing of the curing sealer can cause the paint to bubble.

are you aware of the number of quality defects in the 1st year of your current generation Frontier?
You are right about Frontier. But visually missing paint? I just expected more from Ford. Maybe expecting too much but I am not putting this truck on a pedestal yet!

Agreed- no pedestal yet! ;) What's interesting is the contrast of opinions and findings here vs. all the magazine reviews praising the Maverick. I'm thinking as individual owners we tend to focus far more on all the misc. details rather than overall review of the entire vehicle bench-marked against similar in category the way the mags and reviewers do. Curious to see where JD Powers ranks it on initial quality survey.

It’s been a while so I wanted to update the thread.

For the heated mirrors, they couldn’t find anything and they said they both reached correct temperature, so I guess it’s just me.

The gas tank recall was complete, and they did the trailer brake recall at the same time. I have noticed however that the exhaust sounds like it has a leak now. When they do the gas tank recall, they drop the exhaust after the downpipe where the vband clamp connects. I got under the truck and it definitely sounds louder, but sounds like it’s not coming from the clamp. I tightened it a bit but made no difference. It sounds like maybe they had been harsh with removal and caused a pinhole or minor cut somewhere even prior to the vband on the downpipe. Video is below, however this is a good start in 70 degrees. The cold start at 45 this morning was much louder, surprisingly so. You can slightly hear that low rumble separate from the DI chatter.

Additionally, I have been putting off the pinch welds but went Saturday although they were closed (google said they were open but oh well). Not only are the pinch welds still rusty, I have now found paint coming off on the front bumper. While all car paints are soft and some chips are expected, this is clearly bad paint prep and paint work. It’s bubbling and coming off where the bumper meets the fender, clear away from where anything could hit it and cause this. So I will have this addressed with the welds.

needless to say, I don’t mean to discourage people from purchasing, but I am growing a bit annoyed. If this truck wasn’t so perfectly fit for our needs I’d be more willing to find something else at this point.

Apologies if this was covered on another thread, where are the rusting pinch welds located? I would like to check this on my truck.

Cheers.
